Super nice staff, friendly, easy-going, not salesy. They were great from start to finish. Offered lots of local advice. The online rental form worked really well & saved us time at the store. Our bikes were waiting for us when we arrived.

Awesome place, great staff who were very friendly and knowledgeable about biking on the island. We had a super easy time renting two hybrids to take over to the carriage roads, and the bikes were in great shape and fared well on our day-long journey. Very reasonable pricing and return timing.

This is a great place to get all you need to hit the trails. We usually rent a tagalong for our son to attach to the back of my mountain bike and a mountain bike for my daughter and it’s easy every time. They always have exactly what we need available, even if we don’t get there first thing in the morning! The staff are wonderful, knowledgeable, and quick to help out with whatever we throw at them. Highly recommend!

Rented a gravel bike for a day of carriage road riding in Acadia. Bike was great quality and well-tuned, helmet and bike rack included, Bob and team were a pleasure to chat with as well. And all for $75! Highly recommend for someone looking for a higher quality option.

We had a wonderful experience renting fire SWH Cycle. Bob (and Bob) set us up with well-fitting bikes and confirmed the fit before loading the bikes in the rack they fitted to our car. They offered suggestions about where to ride given the time of day and temperature, where to park to gain access while avoiding the crowds. The whole team was delightful and engaged with our adventure, even as they rapidly attended to several other customers and their needs/adventures. Thank you!!!

Great bike rental experience in Acadia in Bass harbor. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about biking and the carriage trails. They even adjusted my daughter’s seat and handle bar for a bike that was not even a rental! Overall great selection of bike rentals and a wonderful experience, highly recommend.

We dropped into SW cycles and rented 10 bikes from Mark and Bob with no reservations! They were super accommodating and rolled with us despite our short sightedness of not prepping them ahead of time. They were so efficient in measuring our 6 boys and teaching a newbie the nuances of the electric bike. They took their time making sure we had all the gear- loading 10 bikes onto my husband’s f150 required an additional bike rack. They were super knowledgeable and really nice guys! You won’t go wrong with sw cycles for all your biking needs.

We had an outstanding experience renting bikes from this shop! Mark and Bob could not have been more attentive, warm, and effective at curating, equipping and helping load the perfect bikes for our day-long adventure on the Acadia Carriage Roads. We came for the bikes. We left feeling like we had new friends at the ready to welcome us back for future cycling needs.

Real road bikes! Helped me enjoy the bike ride of my life. Called every place on MDI and Bob at Southwest Cycle was the only one who had road bikes. He made a special consideration to fix me up with my bikeon my day off so that I could tackle Cadillac Mountain first thing the next morning. The bike was tuned perfectly and I needed every gear on the climb and loop roads. 100% rent from Bob!

Great experience, rented a gravel bike (I believe Southwest are the only folks offering this style of bike in the area) for a few days of riding the carriage trails in Acadia. Bike was basically new -- I think one person had it before me, but I couldn't tell. Pick up and drop off went off without a hitch, we had a great time, couldn't have been happier with the rental.

Had great experience here. The owner and the young man working with him that day were both a pleasure to work with. They made my wife's most recent New Bike Day the kind of event it should be, and she is over the moon with her new bike.
If somehow you do not get 5-star service here, ask to spin the Wheel of Blame next to the cash register to rectify the situation.

The Southwest Cycle shop is phenomenal. We have rented a variety of bikes over the years, including e-bikes, and it has always been a great experience. The owners and staff are courteous and patient. The bicycles are well maintained and in excellent condition. Whether you are renting, buying, getting an accessory, or just browsing, I highly recommend you spend time at this bike shop.
