Best place to eat in Southport hands down. Always get the lobster roll and a cup of clam chowder. It is the best lobster roll in Maine! The views are incredible and always talk a walk down by the water. Always a must when in town. Never has been overly crowded so service is always fast when we go in.

We went over by boat for lunch. Newagen Harbor is a bit tricky to navigate, but we had the dock to ourselves. Lunch was great. Service was great too. Dog friendly on the outside deck where we ate. A great afternoon outing at a beautiful spot.

My husband and I had a very good dinner at the Pub at Newagen yesterday. We shared the burrata appetizer, the filet entre, and a cheesecake. While the filet was good, it was not fantastic. The burrata and cheesecake were also good. Our server, Tian, was excellent. He was attentive and helpful, but not overly intrusive. Overall, a pleasant experience with great service.

My husband and I ate at the Newagen Inn last Thursday night and we were underwhelmed with the overall experience. This pub is located inside a hotel that is on the water in Southport, and it has beautiful views of the surrounding area. We had made a reservation ahead of time, and when we arrived were given a seat right next to the service station/bar. We asked if it would be possible to move to another location (there were several other open tables) but we were told they were all taken. (Note: most of these tables did not become occupied during our visit). Like many restaurants we visited during our vacation in Maine, it seemed the pub was short staffed, but our biggest concern was really the lack of warmth or attentiveness of the staff. The staff took our orders, delivered the food but there was no personality at all! We would have received the same level of service if we ordered from a kiosk. Once a course was delivered to our table, the serve never asked how it was, or checked in to see if anything else was needed. When the next course arrived, not all of the dishes were cleared off the table from the previous course. My husband had the shrimp cacio e pepe dish, which was delicious. I ordered the hot lobster roll with butter, and was sort of underwhelmed. It was not a huge portion of lobster, and the homemade potato chips were overcooked and hard. For dessert we ordered the sticky toffee pudding and initially the wrong dessert was delivered. Eventually we got the right dessert but it barely resembled other sticky toffee puddings I've had, and it was wayyyyy too sweet and we couldn't finish it. While we were there a woman set up to play the guitar and sing in the lounge area. She had a nice voice, but the whole time she was playing she was looking at her iPad screen, and never once acknowledged the people in the restaurant or tried to "connect", and it was a bit too loud to be able to have conversation while she played. I really wanted to love this restaurant but in the end was disappointed.

As summer residents who visit the Inn for dinner at least once a year, my wife and I were somewhat surprised by some of the recent negative reviews. As we have in the past, throughly enjoyed the outside deck and gourmet meal prepared beautifully. Take advantage of the outside deck and the spectacular view. Rohan our server from Antigua was a pleasure. My wife and I shared a Calamari to start and it was very large portion that we ended up taking home. It was very good, but as someone else mentioned a little less salt would have really made it special. For dinner I had the Arctic Char. It was a first for me, and it was delicious. The fish itself is very similar to salmon if you are not familiar with Char. Wife had the Sea Bass which was also delicious. Only criticism there is for the $$ a larger portion is required. Despite some of our critiques, we had a very enjoyable dinner evening. The nice thing about the pub is that you can enjoy both casual food or gourmet......we've done both, your choice.

My meal was sub par calamari was so salty it was inedible the shrimp were ok but the sauce tasted like crap! our server not once asked us about our meals or if we needed anything eg condiments. Not only did it take three times to get a reservation they still screwed it up, the place is filthy, notable the servers door which was so greasy it would have made a billy goat PUKE! "Absolutely disgusting"

We won’t go back here and don’t recommend this restaurant. I tried to make a 7:30 dinner reservation via email with the Inn’s GM, Abby, but was offered 8 PM. We arrived at 8 PM to a mostly empty restaurant. No reservation was even checked by the hostess. I ordered the mussels appetizer and shrimp caccio pepe entrée. The muscles resembled rubber bands in the shell and I returned them with an offer to credit them from the bill. Our server, Rohan, who was attentive and professional, said he was sorry and that the kitchen closed at 8 o’clock and they had had a wedding function there so things were a little messy in the kitchen that night and asked us to please be patient. It gets better. My entree was 5 shrimp and spaghetti in lemon broth for $32. They forgot the caccio and pepe which I asked for separately so I could help them finish preparing the meal. I told Rohan it was a disappointing dish and he apologized again. We got the bill and the mussels were still there??? We asked to have them removed. Earlier, we ordered some food to go (mistake) and on arrival at home found hummus prepared 2 different ways and a grossly undercooked pork loin. This culinary adventure cost us $270. I tried to contact Abby, the GM to show my displeasure via email but got no reply. Try calling the Inn on a Saturday. No one answers. Unbelievable. If I’m not mistaken this is a high-end ocean-front resort, right?

I ordered the ravioli with asparagus. It only came with a few ravioli bearing filled inside. 4 little hard end stocks of asparagus. Bearly enough to feed a mouse. Paid $18 almost everything else over $20

Yay!! This place is one of the few in New England that DOESN'T allow dogs. (Who wants a mangy beast sniffing your leg while you're trying to eat breakfast?) Thank you to the management... I'll be sure to stay here again for some peace and quiet, for that reason alone.

Good location: just the right distance from the relatively touristy Boothbay Harbor, though a small development has recently popped up next to the property. Comfortable room/bed contributed to a restful stay. I appreciate that it was the end of the season, but the grounds and structures looked a little worse for wear. The free continental breakfasts were no better than what one gets at a budget chain hotel. Inexplicably, they had rowboats but no kayaks for use. The biggest disappointment was that the vintage game room, which should be an exceptional feature and was the main reason we chose to stay at Newagen, turned out to be in a sad state of neglect. The room was kind of dirty and the games, including a candlepin bowling alley (!), have not been maintained.

This inn is beautifully situated with manicured grounds overlooking the coast. The amenities are varied with something for everyone. Our interaction with the staff from check-in, to housekeeping, to dining room servers etc. was uniformly helpful and cordial. We were assigned room 129, a second floor accommodation featuring a king bed and a scenic view through our window. There is no TV so bring a book. Though daily room service was not available due to covid-19, we requested and received towels on our second day. Daily breakfast is offered, but did not vary from day to day so by our third and last morning we were ready for a change. The public areas were well maintained. We had dinner at the Pub on our last night that proved to be quite enjoyable.
