Fast and friendly service. I went in to look for a Maine themed souvenir for some visitors from Japan. After seeing me with a puzzled look on my face, an employee asked what help I needed and directed me to the proper display.

This shop is fantastic for browsing, gift buying, treat-yourself-ing. The staff is friendly and helpful, the prices are very reasonable, and the selection is top notch.

Terrible and rude service. I asked about New Years cards - the New Years stuff was next to a big rack of 50 % items. The owner or manager stated “that’s the last one and are you gonna buy it?”. I asked if it was part of the sale and she stated “no” in a rude tone (I came in to get a card under 2.99 per monthly coupon but may have bought other things if the manager wasn’t so rude to me ..) while waiting in line, there were two people ahead. 5-10 mins I waited and then when it was my turn another worker started helping.. then the cashier couldn’t “find my number” - I even wrote it for her and come to find out it’s listed in the coupon sent to me… I left because she “couldn’t find it” so therefore couldn’t give me the rewards. I stated “That’s fine.. I’m pretty over this interaction..” but come to find out when going into my account to check the accuracy of my phone number it’s literally stated you can find the rewards number in the coupon e-mailed.. get it together, they’re rude and apparently also incompetent.

The Paper Store…does not actually sell paper. Went in looking for quality paper stock - the don’t have card stock, print stock (for photo printing, etc), construction paper, or even basic multipurpose printing paper. They do have a surprising small hallmark card section but wow.…so little paper for a store that is called the Paper Store. Lots of plastic junk made in China though that will be coming to a Maine landfill near you!

Ok, so I know there are plenty of Paper Stores around, but this one deserves a shout out for the great work they are doing. I go to this Paper Store often for various things; cards, candles, games, and gifts. (I mean it's right next to a Hannaford... how can I resist every time I get my groceries!) They really do have a little bit of everything. But really it is the staff that makes this store get an enthusiastic 5 stars. Everyone is always SO friendly and helpful (but not in a pushy way). If you want to strike up a conversation, they will talk to you, but you won't be dogged by people trying to sell you everything in the store. I also love that they have a relatively large amount of staff for the store's size. On any given day, I usually see someone stocking, a cashier, a greeter, and another person or two floating around to help where needed. This means that I never have waited on line for more than 5 minutes (even on weekends) and when I've needed help, I never had to search fruitlessly for a free employee. The store is alway clean and the merchandise neatly arranged. Keep up the good work everyone!
