Please do not go here to get your dog's nails trimmed. I went here yesterday with my 17 year old deaf dog, and they clipped into his nail bed. When I called to speak with the owner, she was inconsiderate, rude and hyper defensive. She handled the situation unprofessionally, and never once asked about my dog's well being. She blamed the dog, and took no accountability as a business owner. The only reason she said she'd refund my money was because I asked for a refund. She was put off and told me to wasn't welcomed back into her store. It was a shocking request considering I was not yelling or being rude to her, I was just bringing it to her attention that one of her groomers made an error. My dog is docile, has arthritis, Lyme disease, old, and walks really slowly. For the owner to say he was kicking, and digging, and jerking around...is just not true. I'm not one to write reviews, but I just don't want anybody else to have the same experience. From a loving senior dog owner, Sue

I would not return to this store. I brought my 17 year old deaf dog there for a routine nail clipping, and they cut into his quick pretty deep. I called to talk with somebody about it right when I got home, and the guy who answered the phone said he was not knowledgeable, and I said I'd call back later when the owner was in.....when I called back later, the owner was rude, abrupt, completely uncompassionate and interrupted me so many times. It was hard to even have a conversation. She could have politely said sorry and refunded my money but instead she threw a fit , with a raised voice and said for me to never come back. It was shocking. I would never go back there, but for her to be so hyperdefensive when all I was trying to do was make the owner aware of one of her groomers mistakes...I just think as a business , owners should care more about the pets health, and providing kind customer service.

The groomer did not listen to my request. Instead my dog was just about shaved! Not groomed at all and there are patches where his skin shows. If I could I would rate them 0.

Horrified. I brought my long-haired dog for a trim and shaved around the neck for the summer and they shaved all of her hair off! I will never trust this place with my dog again.

Have a Huge selection of cat food, treats and toys. Plan on spending some time in there to look around. And there is a ginger cat who will love up on you and give you soft bites.

I have spent more time than I care to acknowledge about whether to and how to write this review. We have been to Paws Applause 4 different times, hoping for a different outcome each time, and after every cut I am more disappointed. We have a mini Australian labradoodle, and the HACK job they call a groom is absurd. The groomer does not listen to our requests, our dog (who is 10 months) shakes (with anxiety which she typically never has) when handed off to the groomer and bolts for the door as soon as we come for pick up. If that’s not indicative I don’t know what is. Her eyes and bum-hole are carved out, her neck is shaved to the skin. I’m appalled at the way my doodle looks. Yes, hair grows back, but I had hoped after 3 HOURS, we would get something better than this. Not to mention, my dogs “spa” day was more expensive than any cut and color I have every received. Never. Again.

These people are very rude. The guy at the counter could barely get a hi out after I said hello as I walked in. Then my dog spotted two dogs behind the gate in the grooming area and went over to say hello to them. The woman immediately pushed the dogs aside and closed the door behind her so my dog couldn't see them. The dogs were wagging their tails excited as my dog was approaching. Once she shut the door she gave me an ugly look and asked what I wanted. I told her my dog wanted to say hi to the dogs and she said she doesn't let strange dogs greet the other dogs. That's ridiculous to begin with but the dogs were separated by a gate. My dog weighs 12 lbs. and loves other dogs and the other dogs were wagging their tails in interest. All they would have done is seen each other through the gate. She was an awful woman who should not be in this business! Beyond that they have a limited selection and it isn't worth your trip. In the 10+ years I have had my dog I have never encountered someone so rude!

Great convenient little hole-in-the-wall pet store in Oak Hill, Scarborough. Only reason for the 4 star is because of the high prices and "high price" feeling the store gave off. (I understand some customers prefer this pampered type of place) The selection is ok, the store is clean, they seem to have appropriate hours. May be a little hard to find at first but it's there! Right next to McDonald's, if that helps!

I have been going there for a year or more for both food, supplies and grooming. They have been wonderful and my groomer is excellent. I have a Poodle so it is a complicated groom to say the least. I have always received exactly what I wanted and I am fussy . The people are wonderful and a pleasure to work with.
