Not helpful, charges overdraft fees even when you have set up an account to prevent it. They do not care about their customers. Only trying to make money!

Why is it that every time I have an issue, I have to resort to leaving a negative review to get it taken care of? It's frustrating that they claim to call you back but never do. The app's functionality is pathetic, as I can't even log in half of the time. And when I can, I have to disable ad-block to access it - what kind of nonsense is that? Their online BillPay system is so error-prone and buggy that it's impossible to access.

I have been an AFCU member for many years. Now that I have moved away and experienced credit unions elsewhere I want to share the experience I had with AFCU. About 5 years ago when we lived in Sanford, I had a lot of credit card debt, but I had good income as an engineer so I thought it would make good financial sense to ask AFCU for a debt consolidation loan. The application process was quick but then I was asked to come into the Sanford branch to meet woth the loan adjuster - basically the guy who approves the loan or not. Arriving, I met the slimiest car-salesman type guy I've ever met. Complete with a cheesy silver necklace and a club-going demeaner. The guy clearly thought he was king of the hill in his little domain. He proceeded to grill me about why I needed the loan and questioning my budgeting abilities. On paper I suspect I made 2 to 3x his annual salary yet he's sitting there trying to judge me for applying for a debt consolidation loan. He denied it on that day due to my average credit. So I worked the next year or so on paying off a couple of the cards and improving my credit score to excellent and then applying again so I could consolidate the rest and pay them off faster. Once again at the 2nd appointment, the same attitude. But he couldn't deny my credit score so he approved the loan but told the loan officer to tell me it should be the last consolidation loan I apply for. Today, I've not only paid off that loan and all credit cards but I also worked hard to establish new roles at other companies and now work in corporate for a major global chemical company. I own 4 cars, a lakehouse, and and just applied for a small seasonal loan for an antique RV my wife and I are going to fix up together. I use loans like this for convenience, since I like having a lot of emergency cash on hand. The credit union I use where I live now didn't even question my needs or why I wanted the loan, they just checked my excellent credit, my income, and didn't even hesitate to approve it. It brought me back to that day many years ago when I was talking to that cheesy-dressed car salesman AFCU loan adjuster and I realized just how creepy the guy was. No credit union member deserves to be treated like that. So I've decided to leave this review as a warning for anyone considering using this credit union. Only use it for a simlle checking or savings account if you have no other options. But never, ever apply for a loan here or you could find yourself dealing with this creepy loan adjuster who thinks he's some kind of financial advisor. If he is educated as a financial advisor (which I doubt), my guess is that his degree was probably from a local community college or an online school, because I don't think they have the funds to teach decent customer service at those schools. This guy clearly never learned appropriate behavior toward members, that's for sure . I wish I could remember his name, but just look for cheap flashy jewelry and club-like attire. That's most likely him. I left 2 instead of 1 stars because the tellers and others who work here are very nice and extremely helpful. AFCU just needs to replace their slimy loan adjusters and they'd deserve 5 stars.

Your parking lot is full of people trying to get in, expecting you to be open at 8:30 am as you’re listed to, but you’re closed. I called \u0026 was told you’re not opening until 10am? So you’re not serving your working customers today? We’ll all be at work long after you make it to work today, but won’t be able to conduct our business because you’ll be closed before we get out of work. Meanwhile, wasted effort was made by all showing up to an empty building. Are you staying open more than you’re regular 3 hours tomorrow (Sat), to do what you’re not doing today? A little snow in Maine shut you down? Yet your patrons are here trying to use services \u0026 you’re all still home. Roads are clear \u0026 your lot is plowed. Everyone else made it To work, even your customers made it, but where is the help?

There services are very unprofessional; you make a double payment over the phone and still have to have pay late fees the next month because they have no idea what they are doing! Do business somewhere else!!!! Save you money!!

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!I went to go through drive through to make a cash deposit I got there minutes before they were closing, just in time. The woman at the window said I couldnt do the deposit through the drivethrough that I had to come in to do it. She said I could come in and make the deposit that way. She said it twice. So I drove around parked and the doors were locked. I knocked on the door and all 3 people at the counter looked at me and completely ignored me. Like I wasnt even there, like I didnt just make it to the drivethrough in time.Makes no sense why I couldnt make a cash deposit through the drivethrough.Also the ignoring part wow!Give your employees some service training and teach them how to respect your customers. Just emmbaressing.

I've called 5 times today and waited on hold more than 10 minutes each time and still nobody picks up! Not everyone does online banking, something's you need to speak with someone about! This is ridiculous

They are always pleasant and ready to help. Online banking has always been great. Send a message any you get a prompt answer. We have been with this credit union science the 80. Through 4 different names and always great service.

I would not recommend this bank to my friends. I tried for hours to make a credit card payment with my new debit card with no luck. The next day I called. They told me to go to a branch and fill out a form. So I go to the branch, and was told I don't have enough money in my account to get a increase. Wait ! that is my money and you won't let me get it??? Time to change Banks.
