Complete 180 from what it was a few years ago. It’s got a fresh paint job inside, nice and bright and clean. Badass equipment and well organized. 24/7 access with door code and only $35 a month. And even the music is better!

Horrible gym owner, she ignored any discrepancy involved in her business. Charged for 10months of billing after asking to have my membership terminated. Then when I confronted the issue she just ignores. She is very unprofessional.

The brickhouse used to be a haven for serious strength athletes. What set this gym apart was the massive wealth of strongman equipment provided by gym-goer and personal trainer, Rick smith. For the last several years he built a tight knit community of strongman competitors who had a unique place to train and set out after their goals. Without notice, this gym removed all of the strongman equipment entirely from the gym. This not only jeopardized several national level competitors preparation for USS nationals, but it left the rest of us high and dry without a place to train, or equipment to train with. Despite not notifying us of the change, they continued to charge us gym fees despite the facility being completely obsolete at that point. To have the rug ripped out from under us without notice was not only devastating, it has destroyed a warm, welcoming community of serious strength athletes that had made the brickhouse their home base for YEARS. Now we are all scattered to the wind, to search for another gym.To my knowledge, the brickhouse had the most comprehensive and complete set of strongman gym equipment in all of Maine. Now it has treadmills in its place. On top of that, management has been wildly unpleasant about canceling our memberships or providing refunds for the gym fees of the gym we can no longer train at. In addition to this grievance, there’s literally never toilet paper provided to gym members and folks are literally discouraged from using the facilities. Management is lazy, vindictive, and clearly doesn’t understand or appreciate the massive community of strength athletes they left without a home base.Strongman and strength sports are about community. They’re about helping folks get better, no matter where they’re starting from, no matter how novice. Strength spots are about finding an Avenue to feel better about yourself as a human being, and to find other like minded people to share that goal with. The brickhouse discourages this kind of community. The community that so many of us have found necessary to maintaining our physical and mental health, the community that has so often saved lives when we have no where else to turn but the gym.Don’t go here unless you want to workout around a bunch of rude high school kids who leave equipment everywhere, or train next to old men who speak loudly and obscenely about womens bodies and make other members uncomfortable. This gym has nothing for serious athletes, and even less for folks looking to break into strength sports who are searching for a welcoming community. Sadly Lisa had ensured that that community no longer exists.

Clean, safe environment that I highly recommend. It is a place where safety, hygiene and respect are number one. An amazing amount of machines and options. Questions/comments/support - the owners are right there to make sure you are safe, succeed and have a place that you just want to come to. Can't recommend more highly - and this was coming from a short time ago when I joined and thought I was way out of my league. I couldn't have been more wrong! A huge thank you to Mike & co at Brickhouse and the great people that view this as "their house". :)

This is the best gym in Sanford in my opinion. If you are interested in lifting weights and making gains, there's a lot here for you. Trainers are available most days, and the other gym members are very friendly. There is more than enough equipment to go around, including CrossFit stuff like tires, ropes, and sleds. Brickhouse works well for me because it's open 24 hours.

The atmosphere and equipment are top notch! I have never seen such diversity and quality of equipment. The owners and management are here because of their raw passion. You will push yourself harder, and it really proves full circle that where you train matters. It has instilled a sense of commitment and integrity in my fitness journey which is exhibited in numerous personality traits. Not only do they incorporate crossfit, but they have one hell of a iron/free weights section
