What a hidden gem. We take a few days to drive from Pittsburgh to Bar Harbor to make the drive there part of the vacation and fun instead of a drag. We found this place for a night and WOW. From pulling into the grounds, the staff, the location — this place deserves 6 stars. We traveled with an almost 3 year old and a dog and they were extremely accommodating. We stayed in a dog friendly room I believe 24, the bathroom was a little dated but everything was clean. This was our favorite place we have stayed to date in our annual fall trip to Maine. We also went to Marshall Point Lighthouse by the recommendation of the wonderful lady working as she said it’s the lighthouse from Forest Gump. Only about a 10 minute drive from their property and a beautiful drive it is. Would definitely recommend. Really cute sitting rooms and amenities. Let’s not forget the breakfast that’s included, the food was amazing! They have a fire pit overlooking the water with chairs and tables and the general store is a short walk away to get all of your campfire needs for a truly perfect fall evening. We can’t wait to come back.Nearby activities: Marshall point lighthouse! Forest GumpWalkability: General store close by for all of your needs or wants.

We celebrated two families coming together with a wedding send-off weekend. The attentive owner and staff provided a relaxed, yet detailed service. All that we needed - right down to the evening bug spray, was available to us. The location is stunning as well as all the meals at their on premise restaurant.Thank you so much. Certainly a new favorite for the 20 of us!Rooms: Rooms were clean, fresh, comfortable and quiet - all with coastal views.

The definition of quaint. We had two very peaceful days. Big shout out to the hostess (can't remember her name). She was generally cheerful and helped us with a million "little things" about our trip and the local area. Eating breakfast overlooking the bay watching the lobster boats prepare is just so New England. If going to Monhagen it's a ten minute drive to the port, so a perfect place to stay. Can't say enough about the friendliness of the staff. Just a perfect place to relax.

The inn is in a beautiful location overlooking the harbor. We had a lovely dog friendly room in the captains quarters. The included breakfast was excellent. We had to leave a day earlier due to a family issue and was pleasantly surprised the Inn refunded our last night’s stay without us having any expectations. Only suggestion I would have is to put a microwave in captains quarters common space for guests. If you are looking for a quiet getaway this is the place.

If you are looking for a lead back in where you can sit on the front porch and read a book, or watch the lobster boats come in for supplies, then this is the place for you. Fun little bar downstairs also and good inclusive breakfasts.

Beautiful hotel in a stunning location. Only a few small flaws. Comfortable and clean. The owners did their very best, but the staff was not very knowledgeable about local options for food. Impossible to manage the temp in our room, but it was fine. Some water glasses in the room would have been welcome. Enjoyed the Tavern downstairs. Five remotes in our room, could only figure out two of them, the other three were relics. Would stay again. The location is incredible, breakfast was very good.

This property has stood the test of time through three owners since we began our visits decades ago. Current ownership has made some aesthetic improvements. The working harbor is a delight to the eye. I have two quibbles that I mention constructively: the new owners have posted many signs essentially marking their private property that are jarring and interfere with photos of the harbor. Also, the new owners have posted a prohibition on consuming personal alcohol in individual sleeping rooms, citing Maine law that no internet search could confirm. Other establishments distinguish public spaces from private rooms.

Been coming to The East Wind since 1978, and every time I return it rewards me with its peaceful setting, good lodging, great breakfast -- on the porch if possible! The Inn has been "updated" several times over these years, but it has kept its special ambiance. Great spot! Great new innkeepers!
