Too bad they closed the retail shop, but the cheese lives on

It was very empty of customers. We got individual attention. The cheese is excellent. They also have many more items all Maine made. Their sign on the road seems small and might be missed.

State of Maine Cheese has been making tasty cheese in Mid-Coast Maine since 1983. In 2019, the business was passed on to the next generation and moved to our new home at Springdale Farm in Waldo. Visit our booth at the United Farmers Market of Maine every Saturday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm for a wide selection of our cheese and over 15 other curated Maine Cheeses. Visit our small, self-serve farm store at Springdale Farm to purchase our cheeses. You can also find our cheese in countless stores and coops around the state. We specialize in Cheddar, Monterey Jack and Gouda cheeses and of course our popular fresh cheese curds. We also specialize in shipping gift boxes filled with our tasty Maine cheeses and other Maine made goods.
