I made a booking to tonight at 7pm. About 20 minutes later the event we were going down for got cancelled. I immediately went back to cancel the booking and they told me they would not cancel with a refund as it was under 48 hours even thought I had JUST made the booking. I do not find this to be good customer service. I can guarantee I will not stay here ever and will encourage others not to.

DO NOT STAY HERE! When we arrived the outside seemed nice and it was right on the water. However, after we got inside the hallway reeked of weed. It was also littered with trash on the floor and the carpet was badly stained. In our room we found mystery hair on the bed. There was also a faint smell of poop by our beds. To top it all off, the toilet was broken as well. We were told we would get a refund for the room since they had no other rooms available and we had purchased insurance on the room. No refund ever came!

Noteworthy details: The Trade Winds is a great place for someone to stay, if one doesn't anticipate ever seeing their loved one alive again... ☠️

I wish I read these reviews before booking a stay at this DUMP. We booked for 3 nights as I was staying for a conference in the area. The room smelled like smoke so bad, there was was no way I could stay there. I spoke to the person at the front desk and was offered a different room (directly above the room we had) and the stench of smoke was 3x worse. We found a different hotel the next morning and checked out, being assured that we would only be billed for the one night we stayed. Well, 3 weeks later, I am still trying to talk to someone about the additional 2 nights refunded. No one calls back, ever.

Not at all pleased. I woke to get an early start on the day and there was no hot water, and nobody at the front desk to answer on this…nor to check me out. Add to this the strong cannabis smell in the only access hall to my room, the out of order vending and so so check in experience…..on the plus side the room was comfortable and clean and the patio good; but the experience was ruined by the inability to have a hot shower. An update to this - I advised the hotel of my concerns, and I've had no response, either here or on there own survey system, and I've never received my bill....although they certainly charged me.

The worst place I’ve ever been to! Carpets weren’t vacuumed for quite a while..marijuana and wet dog smell throughout all of the hotel! No water or soda machines, no laundry(broke down 2 months earlier) no one had hot water for showers or washing up the next day! Charged 220

Stay somewhere else! Other than easy walking distance to Rockland's Main St., there's no reason to stay here. Why? My room was dirty. The sink faucets leaked. The hallway carpet was old, dirty and smelled horrible. Vending machines were broken. The towels were like sandpaper. No traction in bathtub (I nearly sipped and fell a few times). The pool and spa were dirty. The breakfast was terrible. What a waste of money!

Unfortunately our stay was awful. We got in late with our 3 month old baby. After weaving through the dark + unkept hallways, we made it to our room that reeked of cigarette smoke. This wasn’t just a single night of cigarette smoke smell, it was clearly a long term thing. My husband went to ask for a different room and the lady claimed they were fully booked and that she would be charging the previous guest a smoking fee. She never offered any compensation and just apologized for the situation. Already on edge, I noticed how unclean the walls were with cob webs and scuff marks as well as dust and hair in the outdated bathroom. Such a bummer to have had to just deal with it for the night. I do not recommend.

Rooms and hallways are dirty and look like a trashy apartment building. There was a big wet yellow spot in our bed. When we went to talk to the front desk, there were no other rooms. We have been unable to get them to give us a refund of $255 and the manager won't return our calls and messages. That is way too much money for this disgusting hotel!

Never use booked.com or Expedia, Travelocity! Last minute, late evening we clicked on third party to get a room here. Checked in. Paid. Went to room. NO electricity and was told there is a "dangerous electrical problem in room." Front desk says "Expedia/Booked.com-continues to book rooms when they apparently have been flagged to not rent out". Filthy hotel. We never stayed after learning of no electricity in room. Can't get money back. Tried to dispute with CC company, Expedia, and the hotel manager Jim Pierce. So far, being the squeaky wheel, Jim is giving us too many excuses, patronizing answers (you could write a book now on his excuses) "I'll get back to you" and no follow thru. It's now been over 3 weeks to get our money back for a room we never stayed in due to their "serious electrical" problem. Yet they continue to contract with these companies. It's all a joke. Do not trust this place and their management team. We are still pursuing with BBB, bank, management, hotel and third party.Update after weeks of phone calls to Expedia, Bank, Hotel, spending approximately 3-4 hours overall. Finally got a refund from Expedia today! If we weren't the squeaky wheel, we never would have gotten our hard earned money back.

They had canceled our reservation and didn't give us the rate that we had booked. There was no maid service our who stay. Growing up in Rockland this hotel had a very good reputation. I would never stay there again.

After a problematic booking which was only resolved after I contacted the Better Business Bureau, I journeyed to Rockland for my Sept. 2023 area stay / business trip. The hotel is now a separate entity from long term stay resulting in separate entrances, markings for rooms, hallways, facilities that no longer connect, unexpected dead ends and walls. I likened it to staying in a corn maze. Whereas the hotel was previously locked overnight, it no longer is and anyone can access the interior which they did- at 1am a man with bloody arms with track marks approached me as I was entered the hotel and entered along with me heading to the employees area (I was staying in a wing where staff also live). Grossly unsafe to not have a locked hotel door. My wing reeked of smoke (think the worst casino stench of cigarettes burned into the carpet and the walls). My room also smelled musky but I didn't dare open the windows because my screened in porch could easily be reached from the parking lot (which was my only view). I had left the windows closed (though they do not appear to lock) because the porch can be reached from the street and the adjoining rooms/porches; when I returned to my room the windows were open and insulation around the windows had popped out. When I shared this with the front desk, they mentioned that a boyfriend of a staffer was breaking into the hotel wing where I was staying. Great. Let's also discuss the "resort fee" they now add. Basics such as milk, cereal were missing leaving me paying an extra $60 for what essentially amounted to coffee and access to a pool with semi broken facilities that is also open to the public/non hotel guests during prime daytime hours. The only good thing about this hotel is that they didn't lose power during Hurricane Lee (though had they done so- they have no generator I learned). As I left with relief remarking that I look forward to never returning and that if the hotel burned to the ground it would be for the greater good of the community and the state of Maine, the front desk staff agreed with me and we shared a laugh. DO NOT STAY HERE. This dangerous sh!thole needs to be further investigated, fined and shut down and burned down for the insurance money.

This place is filthy and loud. The customer service was weird. The room was truly dirty. For $200 / night I expected more. Definitely don’t stay. The only thing it had going for it is the location.
