“I shop at their thrift store often but forget the Salvation Army is a church. Attended their church service this Sunday. They have air conditioning! Small laid back congregation. They streamed modern worship songs on the big screen with pleasant graphics. Several announcements of different summer events to attend. Many sounded fun. Pastor (Captain) Smith gave a solid and relevant 25 minute sermon. Good speaker. Short time of prayer and an offering. 11 am to 12:15 or so in length. Pastor Smith spoke to me after service and was very pleasant. I know Mainers don't attend church much but it is a shame this church is not better attended. The Salvation Army does good work in the community and the service was pleasant and uplifting. FYI- they are not having church next week due to a statewide gathering so you might want to make sure the Sunday service is happening before you visit.”
