Used to be a wonderful store but…Two years in a row right before the holidays they mishandled my order: last year when they informed me at the last minute that the were out of the item I had ordered weeks before, and this year when they sent the item to the wrong address. Never again!

Black Parrot is shop with unique and interesting stuff. My wife and I were in Rockland last week. The Black Parrot's display window beckoned us to come inside. My wife purchased a beautiful, handwoven, multicolored, shetland wool blanket. I purchased a beautiful, multicolored pair of socks. Guess whose purchase cost more. Both items promptly arrived yesterday via USPS at our San Francisco house. We are very pleased with our purchases. Here is a picture of the blanket draped over my rocking chair.

If I could give NO stars, I would. Over the years, I've always thought that no one really runs this place. It's motto could well be "We Don't Care". Today, they could have had an easy $1000 sale from me. I was looking for something specific I know they have in great numbers. I drove two hours, only to have a poorly trained sales person shrug robotically and mumble apologies. I walked out empty handed, now knowing for sure that the whole store attitude is utter boredom and disinterest. I've never quite understood why this store stays in business. From the moment one enters the door, the attitude is "We see you. Now leave." Awful experience today. Never again.

Beautiful goods, easy on the eyes, although expensive. We saw beautiful mugs and travel bottles here we'd not seen elsewhere

What a beautiful shop. The attendant was very friendly. However, when I read that this boutique was cost prohibitive I didn't realize that the prices would be so out of touch with what people are willing to pay- what a shame. Despite this, I walked away without longing for any item. I am certainly willing to invest in a handmade craft item but this shop, a lonely place with nary a customer, is not that kind of establishment.
