This is my neighborhood drugstore. I’ve had such positive experiences with all the employees at this location. Makes it easy to keep going back.

I've asked about this multiple times, but no one within Walgreens. Reline and repaint handicap van spots. The current right side ramp can accessible stop has an open spot, decided that supposed to have lines painted diagonally to allow for a ramp to be lowered. This isn't the case. PLEASE FIX IT!

This Walgreens on Congress Street is a disappointment. My nephew went there at 4:30 PM on a Thursday to pick up his medication and the pharmacy area was closed with no explanation. When I first called up to ask what the issue was, I went through a maze of unhelpful automated suggestions as to how I could be helped. I finally got to say that I wanted to speak to a manager and was put on hold for 15 minutes while I listened to endless repetitions of being told that all our staff are answering other calls. I finally hung up when another call was coming in. I called again a half hour later and went through the same routine for another 11 minutes with the message of please don't hang up being spoken once every 15 seconds or so to background music. While they officially say they're open until 9, they are closing at 7 PM, which they do state on the phone in their auto-message. If one has to walk to get there, having the pharmacy closed during business hours and not picking up the phone to answer customer calls is not acceptable. Do they actually want to do business? Their business is medicine and when medication can be a serious matter to one's health - as it was to my nephew - it's inexcusable. D+

Clearly understaffed but this location never communicates when it closes early. Website says 8 am-9 pm every day but I have been three times now during this week alone and each time the pharmacy has been closed. This sort of thing has been going on for half a year now so I'd switch pharmacies if I were you!

They close a lot randomly also they stopped weekend hours and I pick up from prescription every week so it's not ideal for me

When one of my buddies wasn't feeling well while we were in Portland, I made a trip to this Walgreens to get Advil, water, candy and nuts...only the essentials, naturally. The store was clean, well-lit and well-stocked. Prices were reasonable and checkout was fairly quick. There's a parking lot here as well, which is nice because parking in downtown Portland is at a premium! If you have drugstore needs, this is your place.

I've been shopping at the local Walgreens for YEARS, BUT NOT ANYMORE!The staffing shortage has left the pharmacy customes in a lurch. When have you ever experienced a chain pharmacy closed on Saturday and Sunday, with occasional Wed closings. THATS ABSURD!AS WELL, Walgreens pharmacy is not a preferred pharmacy with MANY of the medical insurance companies..., so you wind up paying more, and higher copays. Not good for out of pocket expenses. They screw up too often, run out of medications and are not synchronized with their Florida customers service dept. All the Walgreens CS is interested in is the auto refill program... via experience, it does not work. When asked to be removed from auto refill. I was given ATTITUDE, and not politely either. So after 3 tries, I absolutely howled at them for the lackluster behavior and said I do not want to hear from them again!CS calls you to say your rx is ready and when you go to pick up... then you find out it's incorrect info.Recently (early in November), I was contacted regarding my insulin, said it was ready... went there and was told they were out of stock and not available until late December, LUDACRIS!NOT having the insulin could be deadly, and waiting for it is 'life threatening!'So, to resolve the problem, I transferred ALL my meds to THE PHARMACY AT MAINE MEDICAL on Bramhall St. They had all of my many RXs in stock, at lower to no copay.Walgreens charged for the needles, but at THE PHARMACY there was no out of pocket for them... IMAGINE THAT!At this rate, I'm so fed up with being lied to... that I won't go into the store at 290 Congress St. I will buy personal products and other needed items from Walmart, Target etc.If I EVER shop in a Walgreens, it will not be in that location, I'll go to a different Walgreens, like Marginal Way, or Forest Ave etc, for shampoo, deodorant and other supplies, grrrrr!Lastly, there are so many nice employees at 290 Congress St, I will miss them, but hey, I gotta do what I gotta do...

Talked to them on the phone about vaccines, they said, ‘yes, we have one’ and the price is ##. Even my doctor faxed them the prescription and their answer was come at # pm. Been there at that time, they said, ‘we cannnot do it, we have expired one and our system rejected your name’. I was shocked. Don’t believe them on phone, very bad experience. Wasted my whole day to get there. Their customer service is at zero level. I felt very bad and humiliated.
