Portland Gear Hub is a wonderful piece of the fabric of downtown Portland. Their team is incredibly helpful and their services are well-priced, but more than that they have done incredible work making bicycling more accessible to countless people across southern Maine!

The Portland Gear Hub is a non-profit outdoor gear and bike shop powered by Ketcha Outdoor, a 501c3 youth outdoor organization based in Scarborough, Maine. The Gear Hub is made up of a small group of year-round staff who are supported by hundreds of dedicated volunteers. In 2016 over 500 volunteers helped us sort skis, repair a kids’ bike, or translate a Traffic Safety class into French, Swahili and Lingala. We recycled 5.3 tons of metal, refurbished over 400 youth and adult bikes, and each winter holiday season we have donated over 75 bikes to youth organizations in southern Maine. Our staff and volunteers commute by bike, travel by bike, and love what we do! We hope to share the joy and knowledge of bike and outdoor gear repair with you!
