229 Commercial St, Portland“My wife and I travel annually to Maine and I always make time to stop in this particular store. Their curated selection of men’s clothing is second to none. The attention to detail and the responsiveness of the staff is always refreshing. As an example from my most recent trip: I found a shirt I loved and one of the staff noticed that it was slightly too long. Without hesitation they offered to alter the garment and even to ship it to me since I lived out of state.
This kind of service will keep me coming back and purchasing items for as long as I visit Portland. My only regret is that they don’t have more stores nationwide - but the fact that there is only one store is likely what makes it that much more special. I can’t wait to come back to David Wood next year.”
“Funky, fun selection! Got an oversized pj shirt with exactly the type of Maine imagery I was looking for.
This place has items with both better quality and designs that match-if not beat-the prices of the other shops in the vicinity.
Hunt around, and you'll see this store is unmatched.”
“We cleaned up here and made out good. Found a shirt for my uncles birthday. Some hooks for our bathroom. My son got a new backpack for school. Great selection of items.”

83 Market St, Portland“Unique selection to choose from, from all around the world too! Definitely on the pricier side but many of the items are high quality so it seems fair. Owner could have created a more inviting atmosphere but overall a good experience.”
“I went here in 2019 and am still obsessed with their logo and the saying. Bought a hat, 3 hooded shirts, a lobster and more. Please sell your logo on a patch and continued prosperity.”

410 Fore St, Portland“Best tailoring and clothing in the state of Maine. Joe, Jeff and the rest of the staff are extremely knowledgeable, and they'll work with you to make sure everything looks and fits great. You'll walk out looking like a million $!!!”
“This place has the coolest selection of shirts! All of the shirts are nature themed and the illustrations are really well designed. These shirts really stand out and I think they would make for a great souvenir while visiting Maine. The shirts are made in the US and I believe the company is employee-owned, which is a huge bonus. The shirts are exceptionally well made for the money. There are tons of options in terms of design and sizing. They have t-shirts and long sleeve, I also saw kids sizes and onesies for kids. The salesperson was very sweet and helpful. The store is laid out very well and it's easy to grab the shirt you need in whatever size you're looking for. I had followed them on Instagram for a long time and kept meaning to buy a shirt, but then we happened to be in Portland where the store is located so it was really cool to stop in and shop in person. This is a great place to find a gift for someone or get a souvenir for yourself.”
“Awesome unique shop with something for everyone! Women’s and men’s clothes. Various home goods and accessories. Best of all dog friendly! The workers were all so sweet and helpful. Got some awesome BYGO half off deals too. Super cute shop and totally recommend.”

235 Commercial St, Portland“Favorite store in Portland. Awesome selection of brands (my personal favorites are carhartt WIP and rag & bone)I bought a sweatshirt there yesterday. It had a defect where it started coming unstitched at the point where the hood comes together in the front. We were talking about an exchange, and the guy offered that their tailor could just fix it!In 5 minutes my new favorite sweatshirt was stitched up and ready to go. Unreal service, and so much less wasteful than tossing a perfectly good hoodie.Couldn’t recommend them more highly.”
9AM - 7PM
34 Exchange St, Portland“This is a British clothing company with many locations in the US. At this point a significant percentage of the clothes I wear were purchased here. So, you can say I have been satisfied enough to return as a customer, repeatedly.
I find the clothes to be of durable quality. Style is classic enough to be worn for more than one season and not feel out-of-style by the next year.
Sizing is more true-to-size than most American brands. Even accounting for this, I feel t-shirts and Henley style shirts (for men) are tailored for a closer-to-the body fit.
The Portland, ME store has hired a great staff. Friendly, helpful, professional.”

188 Middle St, Portland“i walked into the store at 6 and was told they had just closed at 6 upon entering (google says 7pm). i mentioned that i was just coming in for a pickup order and the associate was kind enough to let me pick my item up even though they had closed. i didn’t get their name but if you’re reading this, thank you! this store can be a hit or miss depending on what you’re looking for, but overall great store with great associates”
“This was my first experience buying a custom fitted suit, and the results were perfect. On my initial visit to the store, I was measured and given a close template suit to try on, which as evaluated for modifications for my specific body type and posture. I was shown a wide variety of fabric styles, patterns and colors to chose from, and 6 weeks later, it had arrived in the shop, ready for a fitting. There were a couple final adjustments needed for the pants, which were completed in 30 minutes, and I had my new suit. I was so happy with it that I immediately ordered a second one in a different color. Doing some basic internet and YouTube research on the process, time frame and pricing, I knew what to expect - and was not surprised or disappointed. The shop itself is a family owned, family run business, and a long time fixture of downtown Portland. I chose to try it out based on these reviews, so I’m happy to add mine to the list of satisfied customers.”
