Such a a cute little market with items from different artists in Maine. They also had a few prints, stickers, jewelry and cards. Picked up some handmade animal figures to give as gifts.

I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for this place, seeing that it's in Old Port and there were tourists from two cruise ships when we went. The pottery and glassware are beautiful and very high quality (with prices to match). We especially loved the brown stoneware and the colorful glass buoys, but everything was exquisite. All the items are crafted by Maine artists.

This is the kind of unique, local shops one hopes of finding when exploring a place like Old Portland. Usually you just get the same old tourist traps selling the same t-shirts, mugs and tchotchkes you find anywhere else. The pottery store across the street has mass-produced stuff that they probably sell at every major tourist destination. This place is basically a tiny pottery museum that sells the displayed artwork. Items are unique and of divergent artistic styles. Most didnt appeal to me but I saw a rustic clay pot I had to have. You’ll probably find something here too.

As a potter I really enjoyed the diversity of artists here. They did stick mostly to functional pottery, but they did this well!

Maine Potters Market was one of the highlights during my recent trip to Portland. While there is an abundance of shops to browse in Downtown Portland, this is definitely a standout. Located on the corner of Fore and Exchange Streets, the shop features a great selection of handmade pottery. The lines of the shop are super clean, and the white fixtures do a great job augmenting the pottery that they hold. I also loved the fact that they have information about the artists whose work they're selling, I enjoyed reading up on the stories behind the pieces. One piece that caught my eye was the Double Dip Dinghy, crafted by Susan Horowitz. The piece is a rowboat with a divider down the center that can be used to hold a number of things: chips and dips, olives and pits, paper clips and rubber bands, etc. The oars also act as spreaders so cut t me using it for cheese and crackers. Service was super friendly, and overall this was one of the nicest shops I visited in Portland.

Beautiful pottery by local artists and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Can't wait to get my pieces home and use them! They also offer shipping(for a price) if you don't have a good way to get it home. If you appreciate good quality, local, hand made art, definitely stop here!

Beautiful pottery by local artists! Three of us went into the store while the two employees were having a detailed conversation, we were never greeted and in fact had to ask if we could enter. The convo continued, no one ever left the counter to see if we needed/wanted help, or tell us about the local artists being displayed. The only thing that was ever said to me was “you can’t stand there”.The pottery was lovely and a nice variety of items. We spent nearly $300 at the store, hoping to support the artists. I’m thrilled with my purchases, but sad the people working in the store weren’t doingtheir job repressing these artists.

There's so much to choose from here, pottery of all kinds, shapes, colors, designs. Great place to find a gift for someone or yourself. The prices aren't cheap, but the quality of the pottery and glassware is worth it.

Bought a great piece here, nice salt glazed mug that keeps coffee hot. Reasonably priced pottery and beautiful, quality work. Will definitely stop in again next time we're in Portland.
