Beautiful Hotel. Front desk staff was lovely, helpful, professional and friendly. We had a corner king on the 5th foor. Rooms were clean, nicely designed and comfortable. Shower was great, rainhead type, no issue with pressure or temp. Well designed closet with room for hanging clothes, a clothes steamer, coffee and tea makings, and mini fridge. Nice residential neighborhood with good restaurants, if you don't feel like heading downtown. Union 188 was a nice find, when we walked by during the day it did not look like anything much but for dinner we found a chef owned eclectic bistro with a tasty menu. Also found great food around the block at Cheval.

What a great experience this was. When we arrived, I was somewhat disappointed with the location and had some preconceived notions based on what I’m accustomed to as a Hilton Diamond member. Although I wish their breakfast was more elaborate and that they offered a bit more to justify the value of 95,000 points for the stay, that still wouldn’t keep me from leaving them a good review.
They offered me an upgrade to their highest floor, the 5th, which had a great view of Congress Street. The next morning, I met with Miss Bethany Wade, the manager, who was friendly, helpful, and warm. I asked for a late checkout, and she was more than willing to extend it past 1 or 2 PM, but I chose to pack my bags and leave them up front.
When I got back to the hotel after 6 PM, she even arranged for the hotel’s BMW to drop me off at the airport. Despite my concerns with the lack of amenities to justify the 95,000 points, I will definitely go back and recommend my fellow Hilton members support these small boutique hotels.

I have stayed at hotels all over the world and honestly this was one of my favorite hotel experiences. Great location, gorgeous, spacious room with plenty of space for my wife and I to get ready, friendly and helpful staff, and an excellent bar.

Longfellow is absolutely fantastic - RUN to make your reservations here - we had planned on two nights here - so fabulous we went to three... Beautiful - upscale - better than an AMEX FHR - housekeeping staff fantastic - they are old school they actually clean and the entire place feels and smells spotless - a unique experience you will LOVE!!!!! 12 stars..... Private ownership - run by real people not robots.... Cannot say enough - cushy, comfortable, light, bright, airy.....gorgeous....

This hotel is not worth the price.
The space is nicely designed, but when you pull back the curtain everything is cheaply made. Our room was loud, both outside the window and outside the door due to being close to the elevator. Cleaning staff knocked on our door at 8am because for some reason they don't have "do not disturb signs".
When we pointed out some of our issues the manager wasn't helpful. And when we checked out, they gave us the wrong receipt for a different room, and led us to believe we were getting a discount that never came.
Oh and they gouge you for parking at $45 / night. A two night stay at the Longfellow feels kinda like getting robbed.
Rooms: Not quiet.

What a refreshing option. I've been coming to Portland here and there for the last decade or so and haven't been happy with all the chain hotel options. What a shame considering how all the restaurants and shops are independent. Walking into Longfellow, I was amazed by the space. I know they are new to the hotel world but you really wouldn't know that with their attentive service. The front desk is a joy to talk to and clearly they are making an effort to provide great hospitality.
I was able to sneak in some time at the spa, but only for a sauna which I don't think I have ever seen something like this in a hotel before. I can't wait to get back and bring some friends for a relaxing session. Maybe try out the spaceship meditation chairs they pitched.
I had a couple drinks at the bar and was able to chat with Nick the bartender who really exhibited a profound knowledge of hospitality and drink . Big kudos for having some many thoughtful non-alcoholic options. A refreshing site...
This is my new home in Portland.
Food & drinks: So many great N/A options

I do not recommend this hotel for anyone. We booked through the Hilton app as a diamond member…I have never in my life had a hotel staff be so unaware of the hotel portfolio they belong to. For example at check in we showed them the app where it clearly states self parking is available and free as well as stating valet parking is available and free…they ignored it and said they had no idea why it showed that…they were also unaware of breakfast and were confused when we asked what the diamond member complimentary breakfast was, when it was served, etc…one staff member actually said they were new to the mariott portfolio…hmm
Outside of that fiasco this hotel claims to be “luxury” yet our shower head only had water coming out of one half…the water pressure was non existent and the water was extremely cold. When we brought this to their attention the solution was for us to shower in another room…not move rooms and not an actual apology. They also have no luggage carts and no staff to help with your bags. They also do not offer a digital key and you are forced to carry around a very large clunky key.
They only have one valet staff member who also doubles as the driver for the complimentary car service. This forced us to miss our dinner reservation as the valet driver left and after 30 minutes of waiting we received a text saying that there was no one available and to try again….my husband had to go request a manager get our car, taking over 45 minutes total. The next morning around 7:30 am there was also no valet attendant available to retrieve our car.
The sheets were like sandpaper and actually gave me a rash, the windows did not seem to be properly installed and were very loud, the air conditioning is in the hallway of the room so the bathroom was cold but the bedroom was hot, there was also spackling all over the walls I can’t for the life of me understand how this hotel passed inspection. Do not stay here, you are literally better off in a motel 6

Tasteful comfort with a few hiccups.
The Longfellow Hotel is nestled in a charming part of downtown Portland, across from quaint boutique hotels and apartments. It’s likely one of the most beautifully decorated hotels I’ve stayed at, and it made me feel right at home. The beds and bedding are very comfortable, and it’s VERY clean. The air conditioning worked very well. Each floor has a filtered water station with ice. There’s an assortment of delicious premium teas, an electric tea kettle, and a French press for coffee in every room. They have oversized towels and plush robes. The shower products smell wonderful. I also enjoyed the high-quality TVs and the ability to cast from any streaming service. They even have a luxury BMW taxi service complete with massaging backseats and temperature control.
On the other hand, there’s some room for improvement. My biggest complaint is the showers. The pressure in my room was quite weak, and the water was warm at best. From what I heard from others staying at the hotel, this varies from room to room. There was also quite a bit of noise from the side street. You can hear sirens and people talking clearly. However, the heavy blackout curtains do help with the noise when closed, and there’s a nice alarm clock in the room with white noise settings. Another thing to watch out for is that valet doesn’t open until 6 a.m., and we couldn’t get our car out for an early flight, which was quite inconvenient.
Overall, I would stay here again. I hope over time they improve some things.

Our recent stay at the Longfellow in Portland, Maine was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that set the tone for our entire visit. The rooms were beautiful, with a plush and incredibly comfortable bed and cloud like pillows (the ‘black out’ curtains also ensured a great night’s sleep).
It’s no surprise that the Longfellow is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) - every detail was carefully curated to create a truly unforgettable experience. The lobby bar, run by an affable tattooed bartender, served up delicious cocktails. Not only did he mix up some amazing concoctions, but he also gave us fantastic recommendations for dining in the area.
One of the highlights of our trip was an afternoon on the porch of the Chebeague Island Inn, where everything on the menu is sourced from the Casco Bay area. The freshness and quality of the ingredients was amazing. We lounged much of the afternoon on the porch looking out at Casco Bay.
We also loved Chaval, just two blocks from the hotel. Sitting at the bar gave us a front-row seat to the delicious food being prepared right in front of us. Don’t miss the smashed tomato toast.
And last but not least, Tandem, the insane breakfast spot next door to the hotel. Amazing freshly baked biscuits and strong coffee. We also had breakfast at the Longfellow cafe (order the chefs homemade coconut yogurt)!
Overall, our stay at the Longfellow was truly memorable. The combination of luxurious accommodations, attentive service, and fantastic recommendations made it a trip to remember. We can’t wait to come back and experience it all over again.

We had a wonderful experience at the Longfellow! The staff was attentive and the space was well done. They offer a complementary car service to local restaurants, which is super convenient. We will definitely stay here again!

I haven’t been this impressed during a hotel stay for a long while. Bedrooms are spacious, well appointed and full of charm. We were instantly greeted by a wonderful woman named Tara who was sweet and informative. I never wanted to leave the shower - they carry Grown Alchemist bath and body products that smell amazing.
The king size bed is super comfortable - equal parts luxurious and supportive and all the lights are dimmable allowing a guest to find that “just right light”. I was delighted that after a late night of cocktails and dinner downtown , we came back to a turndown service preparing the room for sleep - curtains tightly drawn and a dim light on in the bathroom. Perfection.
While the building is brand new construction it has all the details of historic charm. The closet is equipped with a hair dryer, a powerful steamer, tea kettles and a variety of high end teas. An automatic light upon opening the closet door is a nice touch.
The lobby is a main focal point and it’s easy to see why. Many communal spaces to lounge, dine or sip - which I did a lot of. Nick the bartender is friendly, professional and a master of his craft. I had two drinks and both were balanced and exceptional. If you’re a mezcal fan I suggest the Esmeralda.
The following morning the friendly women at Twinflower Cafe guided me through the menu - the breakfast bowl is an easy winner. Lots of bold flavors, fresh ingredients and a balanced way to start the day. I don’t even like mushrooms but the soft boiled egg, pickled cucumbers and rice just brought everything together effortlessly.
Can’t say enough good things — im still looking for something bad!
