I have been a client at J. Henry for nearly a decade. Every experience I've had at this salon has been professional and positive, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure an experience of luxury and satisfaction. With each appointment I am able to freely express my wants and needs with my hair (and it changes often!) and feel heard in that process.
The owners and stylists encourage feedback and in the rare instance I haven't been fully happy with my result, they are attentive to my concerns and follow through to make it right.
I highly recommend The House of J. Henry if you are looking for any hair care needs, or if you just need a little glam pick-me-up! They have an amazing selection of products too that have worked wonders on restoring the integrity of my hair after so many color processes. The stylists are very well educated in these products and knowledgeable with which ones are best for every hair type.
Katie, Travis, and Tamiko are especially wonderful. 10/10! 5 stars! *standing ovation*

Such a sweet and lovely experience every time I come. I don't get my hair done often, but when I do it's perfect. Katie Snow is amazing, and I recently got my hair cut by Alana Gagnon and it was perfect. It's a great space and everyone there is always cheerful and chatty. I'm so lucky to have found this place! * and as a side note, all the negative reviews I'm seeing I don't understand at all, I've never seen any of the behaviors that people are claiming. it's really just a very nice place!

The second I walked in I felt welcomed! I had booked with stylist Aroura and she was absolutely awesome. Patient I may add as I didn’t come in with my hair in best condition. She the whole time was kind, outgoing, and truly was awesome! I definitely recommend if you’re looking to get your hair colored! Her coworkers were also very kind. Thank you!!!

While I have liked my hair after it's been done, I have experienced way too many issues. Over the last six months, my appointments have been canceled at least 4 times. With the price that I pay (for myself and both of my daughter's hair), it's simply too much. Appointments take weeks to get with certain individuals. Additionally, while the set up seems like it should work (one person cuts the hair while another colors), it's actually not as seamless as it should feel. Lastly - the parking is pretty miserable too. At this juncture - I won't be back. They have made zero accommodations after each cancellation to try to even rebook my appointment.

Took my wife for an 8th Anniversary cut and colorTHEY WERE AMAZING,REALLY DID THE BEST JOB SHE WAS SOOOOOOO PLEASED, BEAUTIFUL COLOR,GREAT CUT,AND She felt at home,respected,and like she belonged there!! Those last 3 you must have!!!

Best salon and prices in Portland. Kelsey is the best, she styled my hair so beautiful and lasted days. She is very professional, knowledgeable and she get me the best experience. The salon is beautiful and they have the top of a line hair care. Jerry was amazing and explained to me about the best mask for my hair, and gave me samples. Overall it felt very rushed which I interpreted as a confident and highly skilled hair stylist but she didn't check her work. Every time I've ever gotten front layers or bangs even at a cheap place, they always check to make sure it's even. I took my glasses off, 6 ft away from a mirror in a dim room and only realized when I got home it was very uneven. I had to immediately fix it myself. If I have to fix my hair after a haircut, it's not worth $75.

I was at the salon yesterday for 3 hours to get my hair dyed. I ended up leaving with hair dye on my face, ear and neck. I also ended up leaving with part of my hair not being dyed. It was supposed to be purple and I left with a chunk of hair near my neck being silver/blue. Hailee is the one that did my hair. She was nice other than the fact that she let my hair over process to the point it was dried out. She also let me leave with not all my hair being dyed. I am very disappointed as this was not cheap. I WILL NOT be going back. If I could leave no stars for a review I would. When I asked for a refund I was told I could have them fix it for free. I again told the manager or owner that I wanted a full refund because I don’t believe what I had done was done to the fullest. I was then told I would only get half of my money back.

I would leave negative stars if I could. My daughter spent 3 hrs there to get her hair colored (black and purple). She came home looking like she spent time in a coal mine. Not only that, but her hair wasn't fully colored.

I booked a haircut last minute with Marley, I love that they have late hours. My first time in, reception greeted me immediately and Marley came over shortly after. I told her exactly what I wanted for my cut, giving her liberty to do her thing too, and she executed it perfectly. Pricing is fair, atmosphere is nice. I’m so happy with the end result, I’ll definitely be back and recommending her/the salon, to others.
