I had a truly wonderful experience at Hem & Veil. Jacquelyn did a fabulous job with my wedding dress. She is so thorough and meticulous. I had 4 fittings and each experience was great- her store is adorable and she made me feel so comfortable at every visit. She designed a custom veil and it turned out exactly how I envisioned. Highly recommend!!! She is the BEST!

Jacquelyn was super reliable, kind, supportive and very talented. I felt comfortable at all of my appointments, was genuinely listened to and heard, and I felt free to ask all my questions.
My dress required more complicated alterations than just hemming, and I’m so thankful to have found Jacquelyn and grateful to have her manage the process — it was one aspect of wedding planning I never stressed about because I knew that Jacquelyn had it all well in hand.

I called Jacquelyn after I had a terrible experience at the place i bought the dress that i had planned for in house tailoring on. She answered my call right away and was able to squeeze me in with only a month before my wedding. She was incredible, kind and made me fall back in love with my dress. I would recommend her a million times over.

I wanted to find a way to wear my mother's wedding dress, which unfortunately way far too small to feasibly make happen, but after some brainstorming Jacquelyn used the best parts of it to create the most amazing bridal cape/capelet. She was responsive, expedient, so affordable, and overall wonderful to interact with through the whole process. I'm so glad I gave her the reins for the project! She turned something beautiful and sentimental into something that's gorgeous, easy to pass on to others, and will be so fun to wear for even non-bridal events in the future.

Hem & Veil is not just for brides and bridesmaids. Jacquelyn does Mother of the Groom gowns as well!Recommended by Wedding Angels Bridal Salon in Portland, she was very flexible in expediting our alterations as we live in Franklin County. Our gowns were completed in 27 days eliminating any stress of driving in a winter storm for a February '24 wedding.Great experience all around!

I really enjoyed the entire experience with Hem & Veil. Jacquline’s work is meticulous and she’s incredibly experienced. I didn’t love my dress when I brought it to her but she’s such a masterful seamstress I fell in love with it once she was finished. She charged me what she quoted so there were no surprises which I really appreciated. I really can’t say enough good things about her.

Jacqui to the rescue! One week before wedding day dress hadn’t been altered. Jacqui took my emergent call, and I saw her same day! One step into her boutique with her friendly attitude and reassurance, I knew things would be fine. The dress came out beautifully and the bustle adorable. You have amazing skills!! You are the best!! Thank you!!

Jacquelyn saved my wedding day after a series of missteps with other tailors. I had a dress alteration emergency a month before my wedding, and she was able to schedule my alteration ahead of time to be fixed in time for the event. She was able to hem my tulle dress 5 inches with beautiful applique at the bottom. When I picked up the dress, it looked like it was made to be that length. She even added an easy bustle that gave the dress a flattering shape after the ceremony. Her work was remarkable for a reasonable cost. Jackie from Hem and Veil is absolutely incredible. My wedding dress alteration process has been far from stressful with her at the helm of it all. She was easy to schedule with, communicate with and incredibly professional. She left no question unanswered. During my final dress fitting, she worked on my dress with it on my body for almost 2 hours until she got the final look and fit we both wanted. She worked very meticulously on every small detail of my dress that needed attention and in my opinion went above and beyond to ensure my needs were met and exceeded. I will also add- coming from someone who isn't the most comfortable or confident in these types of social situations, Jackie had my mind at ease and got me so excited for my big day. If you are in Maine and looking for a dedicated, professional, and absolutely amazing seamstress, look no further than Jackie at Hem and Veil. Affordable and phenomenal work.
