Great location with countless food options in easy walking distance and the ferry nearby.
Food & drinks: Duckfat, Cheese Louise, Shipyard Brewing, DiMillos, Becky's Diner, and countless more.

We had a great experience here! Great location and rooms! We could walk to all the best spots. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. They also had really nice bikes with locks and helmets that we could use for free for pretty much the whole day. Definitely use the valet - it is cheaper than self parking in the lot and very easy and fast. Would stay here again!

We recently spent 3 nights at this hotel and were not overly impressed. The hotel lobby is really pretty and clean. The location is great and allows easy access to restaurants and amenities. The gym was nice and clean. The experience was not great though especially for the cost. The staff were not friendly at all. They were rude and left us feeling like we were burdening them. It was a consistent experience from the restaurant to the front desk. If you called down to the front desk they put you on an extremely long hold without even asking “ are you ok to hold”? What if our room was on fire? There is no room service past 9pm or ability to have access to any food or beverages past this point. The front desk did not explain the filtered water situation when we checked in so left us to figure that out on our own. The air conditioning in the room was the loudest thing I’ve ever heard so you must choose from being hot or having an obnoxiousness sound running that makes it difficult to sleep. The pillows were old, soft and it takes a ton of pillows to prop your head up. We spent almost $2k/night for 2 rooms and I would absolutely never go back. They couldn’t even get my 2 rooms next to each other even though I booked months in advance. I am really surprised how bad this was for the Hilton brand and cost. Not recommended!!
Walkability: Great location

Have had 2 fabulous stays at this property. The entire team is attentive and friendly, the rooms are clean and modern and you can get great food and vibes from both eateries. It is prime location to all that Portland has to offer. 10/10!!!!

Accidentally booked for June instead of July. Wasn’t honored even a partial refund. Very poor customer service. Considering this is a Hilton brand, I would expect more. I will not be booking at Hilton Hotels in the future. We are skipping Portland Maine altogether.

This is the best hotel in Portland. I provided a room to a homeless veteran and her husband.
Rooms: Great selection availability
Nearby activities: It is a phenomenal part of the city
Safety: All are safe at any time
Walkability: There are ample sidewalks and traffic obeys laws
Food & drinks: The salt yard is great during the day and then Luna, the roof top bar is great also.

We were welcomed very warmly by the front desk when we arrived. During our three night stay, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. There is small bar on the ground floor, and Luna, the rooftop bar. The rooms are well designed, but very expensive! Our 3 night stay in the middle of May was $1684 plus another $120 for parking. I know it's priced for location, but the rooms were not $561/night worth it. We also thought the mattress and pillows were way too soft. I had use all four pillows on the bed to have any support. Also, only one elevator worked for our stay. And, totally out of control of the hotel, a bunch of drunk guys pulled the fire extinguisher off the wall and set off the fire alarm at 3:30 AM!! The whole hotel had to evacuate and stand on the street. What the Canopy did for everyone was give us one free drink and a chocolate bar. Really? Do better Hilton.

I stayed here in April for a birthday occasion and all-in paid around $500/night for one of their luxurious rooms + parking. I didn't mind the price as it was a very special birthday for my Mrs and its once in a lifetime type of a treat. The hotel is beautiful with a fantastic and very attentive staff, great design and an awesome location. So why is this hotel getting a 2 star review? I very much disliked the "Quick Tip" they have in their rooms, a QR code feature to tip your house staff. Why not pay a decent living wage to your house staff instead of having them rely on tips?
You are getting a 2 star review cause you are Hilton, a highly profitable corporation and you should be paying them a solid working wage (and for the record I tip in cash). Bake it into the price and pay them better. Sorry but this is not acceptable for a ~$500 a night room, or any price room.

Wonderful! This was our first stay at a Canopy hotel and it exceeded our expectations. From the warm greeting at the front desk, to the room upgrade, to the complimentary socks & cookies; the list could on. The room was spacious and clean. The location was perfect and very walkable. Luna bar is not to be missed and a well made coffee at Salt Yard was the perfect morning send off. We will definitely be back!

What a great looking hotel in this price point. Loved the design elements- huge tv with trendy wood slat wall behind tv and bed. Built in accent lighting. Makes me want to do the same at home. Love how the hallways are lit - feels like walking around at night with a city all lit up. Great location. Valet parking was quick and easy.We were only in town for one night for a meeting but would book this place in the future and try out the rooftop bar.

Good location.

Hotel Lobby bars come in all shapes and sizes. This one is special, anchored by two amazing and talented bartenders, Katrin and Lamark. These two provide the best hospitality and cocktails ?

I have to say that The Canopy in Portland, Maine is one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in. The staff was so welcoming and helpful during our 2 night stay. Absolutely loved the Luna rooftop bar. The drinks, food and staff were top notch. Having Salt Yard downstairs for breakfast was excellent and the food was delicious.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and cannot wait to stay there again during my next trip to Portland.
Thank you,
