Excellent Eggs Benedict - wonderful muffin choice, eggs perfectly cooked, wonderful sauce with slight zing as one would expect. Standard breakfast potatoes - good/hot, but nothing special. Tiny cup of strong over-priced coffee with refills

Food was excellent, service also top notch. My Cioppino dish was one of the best seafood dishes I’ve ever had! Highly recommend to try Alto. The crème brûlée (made in house) is dangerously good. We will be back.

We went here for what was supposed to be a special evening and disclosed that in the reservation. The hostess/waitress very obviously hates her job and wanted to be anywhere else but there serving customers. We were sat at a table - in a very empty restaurant directly where the sun was in our faces due to sunset. The restaurant is directly in the lobby of the hotel so it’s not as “nice” as it’s portrayed. Service was excruciatingly slow. It took over 40 minutes to receive an appetizer, salad, and chicken sandwich. The appetizer was brought out with the food… so it was extremely soggy from sitting out before the main food was ready as it was bruschetta. The Caesar salad was tasteless and the chicken sandwich was extremely dry. Would not recommend this place to anyone honestly.

Our food was delicious! We ordered the PEI mussels and truffle frites appetizers, the scallops meal and the linguini clam dish. All came out perfect!! The service was excellent as well. We would definitely return if we are back in the area.

My wife and I are on our honeymoon here from Chicago. We’re staying at the Cambria.
The breakfast we had at Alto is one of the best we’ve had in a long time. We ordered “basic” items - Everyday Breakfast, Steel-Cut Oatmeal, and the House Parfait - and it was all delicious.
Avry was an excellent waiter.

Food and service at ALTO are always good. BUT, they really need to stop marketing an outdoor terrace that doesn't have any place to sit! My wife and I have stopped by 3 times looking to dine outside only to find that all of the exterior tables (a whopping 4 of them) are occupied by either a large party hogging all the furniture or other folks who were lucky enough to get a spot outside. The size of the terrace is huge and they are marketing the outdoor area like crazy - why not add some tables and chairs to make the place useable? Is there some outdoor furniture shortage we aren't aware of? Everywhere else in Portland seems to figure out how to buy patio table and chairs - c'mon ALTO. You can do better.

The worst dining experience. The food was very average and the service was extremely poor. For a $200 meal, it was unacceptable. Local family. We will not return and strongly do not recommend.

The Espresso Martini was AWESOME. we ate late after a full day of town, we were two of few in this undiscovered country. I had the chicken sandwich to eat light and it was nice and juicy. My friend had herself a burger to eat light too and she enjoyed it. The chef came out later and chatted with us.; he was a good guy and spoke of how new this place is. Oh forgot the calamari we shared as an appetizer, cooked perfectly iff you don't like eating rubber; nice and tender a beautiful golden brown.

Alto Terrace stands out as a remarkable culinary destination, even to a seasoned foodie like myself. The menu, though succinct, splendidly covers a range of enticing choices. We indulged in the Alto burger, salmon, and ribeye, each prepared with an excellence that speaks volumes of the kitchen's prowess. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a meal this thoroughly. The restaurant's location on the 4th floor of the hotel adds to its allure, making it feel like a delightful secret waiting to be discovered. The atmosphere is a harmonious blend of casual elegance, fitting for various occasions. For anyone with a discerning palate seeking exceptional dining experiences, Alto Terrace is a must-try. It's undoubtedly one of the best meals I've had in quite some time.

Wowza. Quite frankly! The boy with the mullet (jaundice? Jordan? Jason? Whateva.) was so great to me and my wife and also easy on the eyes if ya know what I mean. Ay-oogah! If I ever get married again I’m bringing everyone here for brunch. For now I’ll just tell all my friends about it. Whiskey sour! 3 ply toilet paper! Unbeatable combo.

Visited last night with a party of 8. The restaurant is modern spacious and very comfortable. The food and drinks were excellent, with the best mussels I have tasted in Maine. The chef even came out to ask us if we enjoyed our meal..nice touchWe will definitely be back again.
