Had passed by this place for years and we decided to finally stop in. Was blown away by all there was, so much to see. My husband and I were walking around looking at everything and the guy working the front desk has a real attitude for some reason, almost as if he was annoyed we were there. It made our visit extremely uncomfortable. We were checking out the last room and this guy walks by us and puts on this weird music. Honestly I thought he put it on to get us out of there. It was all very strange. We will not be returning. There’s definitely a reason why a “for sale” sign is in front of the place. If you’re going to be rude and unfriendly to your customers, you shouldn’t be operating a store.

Such a beautiful shop. More like a museum. Not to be missed.

I will not go back. I do not like being followed around and being treated like a thief! He also told my daughter to put her cellphone away because she was texting on it. He was very rude! He made us feel so uncomfortable in his store!

My sister and I went into the Poland House a couple weeks ago (Sept, 2023). We enjoy shopping at antique stores and were initially excited to see this one. We went in and started looking around. As we were smelling some candles, a gentleman came over (he appeared to be the owner) and told me what the most popular candle was. I thought that was nice of him. The candles were $20 and smelled so good, so my sister asked if it was cash only so we could plan ahead. He said it was cash or check (we didn't have cash on us, but I had checks). There are a ton of antiques in this store, but it can make it hard to see the prices or thoroughly look at an item (things piled high on top of one another, things hanging from the ceiling, etc). I saw this little doll sized bench I liked for $30, but wanted to keep looking. We kept walking around and the gentleman did check on us several times which made us feel like he thought we may steal something, but we understood that as he has a lot of valuable items in there. The reason for the one star is his comment towards the end of our shopping. We had almost finished looking through the store and he said "it's no fun shopping without money, is it?" My sister politely responded "Yeah, it's still fun." We looked at each other confused by what he just said. I wanted to believe I heard it wrong or perhaps he was trying to be playful, but it didn't sound like that. It felt insulting, like he assumed we had no money. We were both dressed down for a casual Sunday (jeans, leggings, t-shirts), but I hope that's not why he assumed we didn't have money. Perhaps it was because we asked if it was cash only? I don't know why it was said to us, but it didn't make us feel welcome. We were thinking of buying the doll bench, a candle, or some halloween decorations (as we often feel bad shopping in a local place without buying SOMETHING), but after his comment, it just felt like we were wasting his time and we wanted to get out. We went down to The Willows Flea Market in Mechanic Falls and bought some things there instead.

One could easily spend hours as there is so much to see! The shop keeper was extremely helpful, and knows his inventory …. I will return!

I honestly could not leave this place fast enough. I was close to having a panic attack by the end of my 6 minute visit... from the outside.. it looks charming and there are tons of unique items jam packed inside.. definitely overpriced but hey... I get it. I found it very odd that I was the ONLY customer on a weekend day.. especially at a such a cute location. However, I understood why the moment the man inside approached me. Barefoot and abrasive. He swiveled in his chair in every direction I walked ... watching me... imagine looking through items and you see a pair of eyes looking back at you between Mr. and Mrs clause.... it seriously made me feel so uncomfortable. The moment I started picking things out I wanted to buy.. then he came towards me bout scared the shit out of me saying are you going to get those? .... I was... I will say, he tried to converse with me after that for a moment once I told him the items I look for in stores like this and he showed me another area... but the way he kept watching me and told me I couldn't take photos... I had just had enough and the panic sweats started... I wanted to crawl right out of my skin in there. It's great if some people can look past the predator vibes... I just couldn't.. good luck out there.

What an incredible place - There is so much! Yet everything is in an accessorized,, exhibited,, orderly. presented, pristine and stately fashion -I found 3 small items. One could spend several hours here easily. I will be returning, hopefully to become a regular.

Very cool place. Full to the brim with antiques. We called ahead to make an appt as they’re only opening by appt right now due to covid. With a couple hours notice, he gladly opened up for us. We spent an hour and a half just looking around the first floor. He was available for questions and pulling out things that we were interested in. I was busy looking at dishes but he and my husband had a lovely conversation. We bought some awesome items and will try to stop back in the summer.

We called ahead as right now they are only open by appt due to covid. He was glad to open for us with some notice. The place was full to the brim with tons of cool antiques. A little of everything, lots of Christmas stuff. We found quite a few things to take home with us! I've seen the other reviews on here and he did follow us at a distance at the beginning, once we chatted a little, he was put at ease and hung out at the counter. My husband had a lovely conversation with him. Everyone deserves a little slack these days. We look forward to trying to visit again in the summer as it was an awesome place to explore.
