“John was so incredibly kind and helpful when I came in at closing with an oil leak issue on my Subaru. He stayed open late, shared stories of his family and life, and gave good car advice. So glad I found this place!”

“I have owned a 1994 Albin 28TE for 18 years and have finally found someone who can service it. The original Peninuslar diesel engine was almost impossible to start when I had it replaced in Rockland with an Yanmar 6LPA-STP in 2004. Three years later the dripless shaft seal went bad and we replaced it at a Marina on Islesboro with a stuffing box. At that time the mechanic told me the engine was sadly out of alignment and he had to remove the engine and reset it. However, the stuffing box required tightening so often that I decided there was still an alignment problem. I finally took it to Downeast Yacht service. Here is their finding. 6. When the drive shaft was pulled for cutlass and shaft seal the coupling was inspected and the installed drive saver was found to be badly cracked and the shaft coupler showed signs of damage. The shaft was found to be way out of the center of the stern tube. The shaft saver was too small and after the engine was realigned a new coupler and the plus rated 504PR drivesaver were installed. They also installed a new timing belt.”
