The people at Tidewater were very friendly and helpful with setting up my account. The service is excellent.

Put it in the column of gotchas. We've been connected to Tidewater's fiber service since May 2021 under the federal assistance program to help with broadband costs during the pandemic. Got the 6 months of 100/100 free, then 6 months at $69.95. So far so good until the 1 year of the deal was up.June 2022's bill rolls around and all of a sudden there are fees related to a landline number (which we haven’t had in service since 2018). I called and they said, the phone service is part of the fiber bundle. And since we were no longer on their pandemic promotion and were moved to one of their standard plans, it's included whether we like it or not. No phone related charges on previous bills for the 100/100 service. So now we get an extra $12.88/month in taxes, fees, and surcharges related to a phone line we don’t need or use because it’s part of a bundle it can’t be unpaired from.Pretty sure in most cases a phone line is not needed for a fiber connection. So we've been automatically dropped to 50/10 service (which was completely expected), and I guess $81.83/mo for 50/10 service is just the cost of redundancy and prevention of lost productivity for our business in the event of a flaky connection with our other ISP. Just stinks that in May our service was $69.95 with $1.10 in taxes, surcharges, and fees ($71.05), and in June our service was still $69.95, but with $14.21 in taxes, surcharges, and fees ($81.83) due to a phone service we don't need being automatically bundled with the service. What I suspect is going on is they collect an annual subsidy from the FCC's Universal Service Fund (USF) for every land-line telephone on their network. They collect fees from their subscribers for something that they don't need or want only so that they can ALSO collect free money from the Federal government. Shady shameless money grab. But as they say, the best ISP is always the one you don't have.(Yes there is a difference in the math here, but that's because June's bill accounts for pro-ration of spit time between the two different plans.)

The level of incompetence by this company is unbelievable. Be careful as they are the only provider available in Lincolnville and they hold you hostage. Be prepared for misinformation and rude business manager who could care less about your problem since you don't have any choice but them.

We arrived at our camp recently and on the day of our arrival a Fedex truck took out the telephone line. We called Tidewater and reported the problem. We went grocery shopping and when we returned it was up and working. Fantastic service, highly recommended.

My family pays hundreds of dollars a month for a 10mbps speed that is actually only 2mbps according to tests i've run.

Overpriced, not helpful, not flexible at all. We signed up for their fiber optic services and had to sign a 3 year agreement. If you want to suspend your service seasonal you can't cancel because of the agreement but you can shut it down for half the monthly fee so basically it cost you $50 per month to get absolutely nothing for 6 months. So $300 for zip. Every other provider I've called provide season shut down for either $0 per month for 6 months or $5 per month for up to 6 months. Oh by the way there's no month to month option and if you do decide to cancel - after your 3 year agreement - and then turn it on again it's $100 for them to do NOTHING. It's all installed, modem in place but they want $100 to flip the switch. In 10 years we've never had a good experience. We've just switched to Hughes Net which is now available in the midcoast $60 a month, 6 month services suspension for no fee, 2 year agreement, no install fees, no activation fees. Oh by the way some of the reviewers below that gave 5 stars work for tidewater - Thrasher for one - internet technician tidewater telecom.

Not very friendly with bringing a community to higher internet speeds, requests that everybody in the town to agree before they move forward, these guys need to understand that this is 21st century and that technology exists that is even faster than Cable Internet. They state that they offer fiber but supposedly its not available in my area even though there is nodes to provide it.

Clearly, Tidewater is the worst choice of ISP. But wait! I don't have a choice. I live in one of those special areas that are MONOPOLIZED by a local ISP and charge ridiculous prices just because they can. I pay over 5 times what I should for the speed they deliver. $100/mo for 10 mbps DSL. The instant another option is available, I am gone, as I am sure many other people will be. Truly, Tidewater is the provider of last resort.

I have unfortunately been a customer since 2009. Tidewater this is the only option where I live for high speed internet. I tried Redzone Wireless, but was not able to get a decent signal, and also tired a Verizon Wireless hotspot, but the connection was throttled to a speed slower than dial-up once I hit the data cap (even though it was advertised as "unlimited" data). Satellite is of course available, but I am not considering anything with a data cap. I upgraded in 2017 to their new fiber broadband at $93 a month for 10mbps (upload and download), which includes a mandatory land-line connection I do not use. Yes, this is a very slow connection and extremely expensive, but it is better than the DSL I was getting from them previously which was even slower and the same price. When I switched to fiber I was locked into a 3 year contract with a $200 cancellation fee. I just checked their website today and saw they now offer a 50mbps connection with better phone options for $69.95. This is still comparatively expensive, but at least its an improvement. I was irritated they didn't bother letting me know about the new plan, but many companies don't let you know about better deals, so I let it go. What really irritates me is when I called to switch they still want to charge me a $200 cancellation fee and another $100 activation fee (to make a couple account updates) in order to switch to the new plan. Naturally, they want to lock me into another contact, presumably for 3 years with a $200 cancellation fee. I sincerely hope my town opens up to competition so I can give my business to a more deserving company.

Gave us consistent service for two years in a place that is limited in high speed internet options. They service the west end of Burkettville Rd If that helps anyone in Appleton.
