I snuck away mid week for a class at the Carpenter's Boat Shop in Bristol. My stay at the Tipsy Butler B&B far exceeded my expectations. Stephanie is a wonderful host who is accommodating and friendly. The rooms are spacious and sparkling clean. The bed had wonderful linens and a cozy down comforter...perfect for winter in Maine! I got to enjoy their wood fired sauna and that combined with a cold shower made for an epic night's sleep. In the morning, I enjoyed great coffee and a delicious, hearty breakfast that Stephanie prepared with inspiration, creativity and local ingredients. The Inn is within walking distance to Damariscotta and a beautiful drive to the Pemaquid Point. Do yourself a favor and enjoy this Maine gem for yourself.

We enjoyed the short walk to town for delicious meals with gorgeous views as well as the locally-owned boutiques. We made a short drive to the Botanical Gardens and should have planned better as we would have liked to stay all day!

After seeing The Tipsy Butler featured on Chronicle, we decided to extend my husband's mid-August birthday celebration to include a two night stay at this incredible B&B. Whereas, we have spent much time in Maine during our years together, this was our first time in the Newcastle/Damariscotta area and the Inn and surroundings did not disappoint. We felt like family from the minute that we walked in the door. The Inn was beautifully maintained and decorated and our room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed Stephanie's delicious locally-sourced breakfasts, hopped in the sauna after a long day of hiking and exploring the area, and had cocktails on the front porch before heading into town for dinner . We loved the attention to detail, from the fully stocked dining area to the charging cords at each bedside lamp. These wonderful hosts have thought of everything to make their guests feel truly pampered and we are already looking forward to a return visit!

A delightful experience with kind and attentive hosts. My room was incredibly comfortable and provided a soothing oasis for rest and relaxation. This BnB is close to town allowing guests to take an evening stroll along the Main Street of the village for dinner or to explore the many shops. Definitely stay here for your next visit to Newcastle/Damariscotta.

The Tipsy Butler was the perfect home base from which to explore all of Damariscotta and the surrounding area! Stephanie was a gracious host and cooked us some of the best breakfasts we've had. You will not be needing lunch (though it's hard to turn down local oysters!) after breakfast at the Tipsy Butler. A very easy walk into downtown Damariscotta (where vehicle traffic can get jammed up) and all the amazing bars, restaurants, and art galleries that the town has to offer. Can't wait to visit again!

Rooms: We loved our room, The Patchett. The walls are painted a beautiful yellow, which glow in the early morning sunlight. The bed is comfortable, and so are the many pillows. The color of the walls in the large blue bathroom complement the yellow walls delightfully. It is such a restful room. There is also an alcove, with an espresso machine, and an iron and ironing board. There was a welcoming jug of cold water in the refrigerator.Walkability: Though the Tipsy Butler is surrounded on all sides by its own beautiful grounds, it is a short walk into Damariscotta, where there are interesting shops, book stores, and some lovely restaurants.Food & drinks: Coffee and tea are available in the dining room before breakfast is served. We had two breakfasts. We were able to make a request not to be served eggs - although they have eggs from their own chickens! - and another guest was able to have something cooked the way she liked it. The breakfasts are delicious. It is a treat to have breakfast here.Noteworthy details: If you closed your eyes and imagined the perfect, peaceful country inn, you would probably imagine one very like The Tipsy Butler. The front porch is spacious, welcoming, and surrounded by beautiful flowers planted by Stephanie. After you enjoy your delicious breakfast, - fresh local blueberries featured! - you can take a cup of the excellent coffee out to a comfortable rocker on the porch, and enjoy the sun, and the flowers.
