The innkeepers were nice and welcoming. The room was quiet and clean, but had a musty smell. The bed was noisy when you turn over, but it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was small but fresh.

Big Moose was awesome. The only part better than the fantastic atmosphere was the kindness of the staff.

Worst stay I've probably had across 48 states & 9 countries.Paid $150 for a shed with a bed they called a cabin. All the showers were locked when I got there at night after a 7 hour drive north into the wilderness. Very bad stay.

Booked this fairly pricy reservation to do some hiking in Baxter SP which, owing to having my new dog with me (the park bans dogs, requiring an out-of-the-way day boarding), didn't work out the way I'd originally planned.I was given a spot to ensure the good WIFI I wanted which, surprisingly, worked sometimes. But the result was a tiny spot having barely room for my car, and a water spigot quite a distance away. The area is pleasant enough, and some lake access isn't far away. The general store and restaurant is really bustling, if that's your thing, even with live entertainment when I was there. The main problem is, visiting Katahdin to hike is just so difficult with a dog, what with the surprisingly high costs and the great driving distances involved, both inside and out of the park -- plus long-dead Governor Baxter's ridiculous dog ban. The short visit this time was a disappointment.Nearby activities: Bustling restaurant and bar with live music (at least when I was there).Walkability: Lake access was close by.

Location and the on site restaurant were fantastic _ the beds were stiff but that's easily fixed next

My family and I stayed 2 nights at the "Little Rocky" cabin. Although the cabins are a little closer than we would like we really enjoyed our time. The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The cabin area and lake were very enjoyable and peaceful. We didn't get a chance to dine at either restaurant but the staff checking in and around the campground were very helpful and friendly. We also enjoyed the proximity to Baxter State park and really enjoyed it.

Great campsite with lots of space but when we got there the previous people left trash bags that animals got into otherwise great place

We stayed in suite 6 after a day of white water rafting. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. Slept with the window open and enjoyed the cool fresh air. Everyone was very nice and attentive. We are looking forward to staying at the Big Moose in again but with a longer stay and check out more of the Millinocket/Baxter State Park area. We recommend without hesitation!

We stayed in Suite 1 which was quaint and cozy. Pleasantly surprised there was no television! Got a great night’s sleep! Staff was very accommodating and easy to deal with. Ate one night at Frederica’s and had an outstanding meal-compliments to the chef! Convenient to Baxter SP and to several lakes to include the public boat ramp and seaplane base. Would definitely go back!

Stayed in a cabin on the grounds at Big Moose Inn for a weekend Mt.Katahdin hiking trip. Worked out really well. Outdoor shower and restrooms. Restaurant food was good. WiFi was strong. Highly recommend for a quick trip to Baxter State Park.

We stayed one night...suite 7. The room was spacious and very clean. Comfy beds provided a good night's sleep. Lots of signs telling how to work things, we had no problems working the TV, heat, or anything else. Only negative about this room is that it's close to the kitchen so you hear a lot of door and ventilation noise while the restaurant is open. We were glad they closed at 9pm!

Stayed here while visiting Baxter State Park. The hotel was charming, and our room was perfect! There are some wonderful common areas in the hotel itself that are very inviting. The breakfast the next morning (served early for those of us that want to get moving) was perfect. We had breakfast sandwiches and fresh coffee. The night before, we had dinner at the Big Moose Tavern/Grill and it was great!! It’s basic pub food but the bartender stayed open later than advertised because we were having a great time with the other patrons. Clean, courteous, and delivered 100% of what we expected. Big Moose does not disappoint!! We will certainly stay there again!!

....unless you camp in the park. It is an easy drive (well, my tiny GTI didn't love the dirt roads, but if it can make it anyone can) into the park from the Inn. Also, Millinocket and Ambajejus Lakes are right there. We stayed in the inn and found it very comfortable and quiet. Everyone on the staff went out of their way to be helpful and make sure our stay was enjoyable. Had dinner there one night and the food was pretty good. There was only one server, however they were very quick and kind despite having tons to do. We missed breakfast because we booked a wildlife tour at the NEOC for 7am, but I set my alarm for 6:45 rather than 5:45 - doh! The inn also arranges wildlife tours, but they need a bit of extra notice in the slower seasons. I was impressed that you could still swim in the lakes in September - like having my own private pool :)! Kayaks are also provided. There is a well stocked store next door with snacks, supplies, drinks and breakfast sandwiches. The stairs to the second level of the inn are quite steep. I know most people who stay here are probably hikers and this will not present a challenge, but my partner has some mobility issues and they were a bit tough for him.
