We have been taking our 4-legged children to SMVC ever since it opened. From our pets’ first checkup appointment and as well as to their last.
But over time I feel SMVC has lost their ability to serve the community that supports them. No late afternoon or Saturday morning appointment as well as not taking much needed emergency appointments.
Recently our miniature schnauzer began panting rapidly. We called SMVC to bring her in for an emergency appointment. After explaining her symptoms, they stated they couldn’t see her today, but could tomorrow. My wife called back pleading for an appointment as Sophie's condition worsened. Again, they stated they were “much too busy”.
I carried Sophie out to my truck and placed her in her car seat and started to head to the Animal Hospital in Scarborough. Halfway there, as I was patting her to calm her down, she took her last breath as she stared at me.
I know there was nothing that SMVC could have done to save her, but they could have ended her suffering sooner. They chose not to. They need to remove the words “The Clinic That Cares” from their sign out front as they don’t.

Amazing vet! Have two large dogs that lots of other vets get overwhelmed by but they do an amazing job!

I. Love. This. Clinic. They're absolutely lovely, they go above and beyond for your animals, and they're extremely reasonable for vet prices today. They are more than willing to work with you on treatment plans. They always follow up. Dr. Bishop is the best vet I've ever taken an animal to.

Our vet for our puppy is always at every visit, even if it's just a tech visit. Very caring to your animals. People will say pricey but so isn't hospital visits for ourselves & the pups can't work,lol.
Love this place. Dorothy is the best assistant . She is such a help at our visits.

Despite the poor reviews, I still gave this place a chance, but I cannot lie. I am extremely unsatisfied and am still in shock about this entire experience. I am horrified to consider how these doctors, especially Dr. Schuld, treat pets. The way he grabbed my dog scared her, and he was very rough with her. The fact that this man was a doctor would have never occurred to me! I was ignored by the staff and the other owner when I reported the situation. Anyone who brings their pets here should do a thorough review of this doctor's office before doing so. The bottom line is that you should stay away from this vet office. I saw a doctor who was unprofessional, unknowledgeable, and unpleasant to my pet. I am giving them one star, but if I could I would give them no stars. Stay away.

Avoid this place at all costs. An older doctor muzzled and injected a dog with drugs to put it to sleep because he couldn't calm it down. After seeing how he hurt the animal, before injecting it, turned my stomach. The staff is demeaning and incompetent. The original doctor who owned the business was kind, understanding, and always willing to answer questions. I was frightened for my animal, and fortunately, I was able to get him away from them before they touched him. Your pets will not be well taken care of here, so I recommend finding another place to take them.

Phenomenal care by everyone, starting at the front desk. I felt the compassion and care of my Franklin was as if he belonged to them. Dr Bishop is incredible! She took the time to not only make my dog feel better, but me too! You are very lucky to be seen by this Vet, I highly recommend!!

Always so friendly here! You can definitely tell they love animals and their job. They're also on the more affordable side compared to other vets in surrounding areas. 10/10 highly recommend!

If you care about your pet stay far away from this clinic. They will not work with animals with anxiety and their only protocol for an anxious animal is to put them on a cocktail of 5 seperate drugs, muzzle them, and then continue to man handle them until they reach a drug induced rage and tell you they can't work with them. Whoever used to run this clinic was amazing, I'm afraid whoever is in charge now is simply in it for the checks rather than the animals.

We’ve been taking our cats to SMVC for the past 6 years and have been so pleased with the care they’ve received. Everyone at the office is so kind and helpful, and they really care about our cats. We’ve been able to get in quickly for sick/acute visits when issues arise, which I really appreciate.Additionally, I find their prices to be very reasonable and reflective of the excellent care they provide. We are so lucky to have found SMVC. No matter how far away we live, we will continue using their veterinary services.
