From Goodwill Take 2 YouthBuild
At Take 2 YouthBuild in Lewiston, 17-24 year olds who have a history in the juvenile justice system learn new skills and give back to their community.
In Take 2 young people learn construction skills while working toward their high school equivalencies and learning valuable life and work-readiness skills.
In 2023, Goodwill NNE is reworking the program to also serve adults who are eligible for SNAP. Goodwill plans to focus this program on teaching entrepreneurship skills by teaching people how to upcycle broken or damaged furniture. This will keep items out of the landfill, teach people marketable skills, and the revenue from refurbished furniture (to be sold in Goodwill stores) will help fund the program.
