Loved this museum when it was in Kingfield center. The place has moved to the access road at Sugarloaf and there is NEVER anyone there, NEVER open. Really too bad because the history is very interesting.

Very cute little museum that has all the info and artifacts about the history and evolution of skiing in Maine - which is the same across the globe, but interesting to learn about how skiing came to this region (formerly known as skeeing) from Sweden. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit!

If you are close by ya gotta stop in...some amazing things to see!
Maine is very rich in ski history, yet many people do not realize it nor recognize the place this history holds within the American ski world. Because of this, many of those who have valued the special spirit our sport entails are concerned this history will be lost. It is this concern which motivated the founders of the Ski Museum of Maine to organize. The Ski Museum's mission is to “celebrate, preserve and share the history and heritage of Maine skiing". The board of directors has undertaken a number of projects to identify and preserve our skiing heritage and to share this heritage with all generations.
