33 Winter Hill Rd, Kingfield“Such an amazing place - the highlight of my trip to Sugarloaf! Fascinating and historically significant, this beautiful old hotel is original condition yet is fully functional and modernized where it needs to be - not where it doesn't. Everything about this place takes you back in time! My room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was modernized yet appeared period-correct (to the extent possible). Note there aren't a lot of electrical outlets, you just have to look and find them. :) The owners are wonderful people who are investing their time and money to keep this place operating. It's just fantastic. If you're into old- or antique-anything, or history, or just want a nice, unique place to stay, the Herbert Grand Hotel is for you! RECOMMENDED!”
“From the unique, prohibition era style cocktails and wine selection, to the smoked olive oil infused whipped cream topping grilled peaches, this place is not to be missed if you want something delicious and different than most options in a rural Maine town. They make you feel like you're in a big city with the flair and flavor profiles, but remind you that you're in small town Maine with their fresh ingredients and spot on customer service. While it may not be standard on busier nights, it's a special experience to have the chef delivering your dinner and describing it to you, if you do get so lucky. They've sealed their spot as our favorite place in town, for both an evening of Karaoke and a special (and mouthwatering) dinner- and we've been to just about every spot within an hour of Kingfield. No one is serving food like these guys, not even the most popular places near Sugarloaf. So glad we've found this gem.”
