Normally a great institution until an issue arises apparently.I recently reported fraudulent activity and was first treated rudely and condescendingly by Megan on the phone. On her own desire she transfered me to her supervisor, Peter, who was much less rude but was still unable to explain why KBS refuses to offer any support in this fraud case. I requested documentation via email but Peter was unable to provide it. According to him, even though Kennebunk Savings Bank has "professionals trained to prevent financial exploitation" and promises support for customers dealing with fraud, KBS only uses the term fraud as "shorthand" (phrase used by Peter W. Molinaro, Customer Outreach Assistant Manager) for unauthorized activity. Peter readily admitted that fraud covers much more than unauthorized activity, but they only use the term in this narrow sense. However, that stipulation isn't in any terms and conditions documents. Kennebunk Savings Bank refuses to honor their own policies, blaming the customer for not knowing that they only use the word fraud as "shorthand" and "only according to industry standards". It should be known, though, that after a week of conversing, no one at KBS has been able to explain where they get these industry standards, or where this information is for cardholders to review. I did provide a copy of one KBS terms and agreements documents that listed fraud and unauthorized activity as two separate events but I was told that this was not relevant. This whole interaction has raised serious concerns about how Kennebunk Savings operates; they apparently have no qualms about false advertising, they offer conflicting information that they can't explain. At the very least I know now how poorly they treat their loyal customers of many years. The matter is being escalated at this time. It is unfortunate that what was thought to be a respectable institution is so deceptive. Based on the deplorable dealings I've had with them in the past week I cannot and will never recommend this bank.Update: A representative from Kennebunk Savings Bank has replied to this review, completely glossing over the fact that the staff is rude, condescending, and inept, as well as the fact that they've admitted to inaccurately using the term "fraud" but because of their own error will not follow through on their promises to cardholders. I'm waiting to hear back from a support specialist via email before I file an official complaint with the FDIC.

I have been a customer of this bank for years , many years opened another account within 2 years ( not giving much detail about account) had no trouble never disputed a transaction recently I mean recently I do t want to give too much detail had to dispute 2 fraudulent withdrawal. I was told to go get new card and wait period was 10 days .. this whole process of disputing these charges I was treated like I lied about it . See nobody and I mean nobody has my passwords but somehow in Brooklyn New York someone was able to withdraw cash from a ATM without my card and this bank allowed it. I can't even do that. When I reported it the same day I was treated like I was pulling the fraud I waited 2 days calked the fraud department this woman I got was so rude and told me I had to wait 10 days and if I not denied will see my money . I was treated like it was my fault . Nobody had my password I order nothing online I go to the same stores but this bank allowed someone at a Mr kiwi in Brooklyn New York to get cash without my card . I can't even do that. This bank is terrible. I will report them and seek legal action

Avoid KENNEBUNK SAVINGS BANK. I am closing all 3 accounts immediately. EXTREMELY difficult to work with and completely inept. I have tried a few times to correct the zipcode attached to said accounts to no avail. Even in person. They are also refusing to execute a transaction on my behalf on the pretense they are "protecting" me. As the owner of the account, that is verbally authorizing the transaction, this is unacceptable. The amount of interest they earn long term off my accts FAR exceeds the transfer amount. Ridiculous.

One of the worst most unpleasant banking experiences of my life. Truly not sure how this business continues to run.

Allows unauthorized purchases even after we have expressed that we are not buying the service we are being charged for. Refused to do anything while someone stole 150 dollars from us, over multiple purchases. Will not freeze or close the account and is content letting this guy continue to steal our money. Woman who answered the phone was rude to my wife for no reason. Save yourself and do not bank here.

Honestly the worst bank. Charges with no warning. Allows payments that are WAY to large and unauthorized to go through resulting in overdrafts with zero acknowledgment of overdraft. Women says “well just put your money on the account” .what a way to make someone feel horrible, degraded, and discriminated against when they don’t have the money. Save your time and go somewhere else where they are kind. KBS USE to be great way before they turned corporate. Once they became corporate years ago nothing but problems but this has been the last straw.

How is it possible that this bank has a low review rating? They always go out of their way to service the customer. The staff is well trained and have always shown the highest standards. They have been my bank for more than thirty-five years. Give them a chance to show you how good they are.

WORST BANK EVER! Take your hard earned money anywhere else. Oliva took my call and kept talking over me, very condescending and rude. Trying to make sure my money was going into the right account from having issues from taxes going into the wrong account in the past. Was told to call before I knew it was going in and now was just told I need to call back again, cause they can't do anything till they receive it. She can't make a note or write it down! Way too many negative experiences in the last year to ever write about.

Do not trust this bank with your personal financial information. They allow scammers to impersonate the bank by forcing customers to call an 800 number and provide ssn and banking details to perform simple things like changing addresses. This bank does not have faith in its own "secure" online banking system. No one savvy in banking scams asks customers to call 800 numbers and provide ssn and passwords, but this bank forces customers to, which exposes customers to huge risk. There is no complaint procedure at the bank either. Horribly managed bank. When I opened my account they forgot to open my bill payer and then again forced me to call an 800 number to provide my ssn and security info. Never bank here. Never call ANY 800 number to provide ssn or banking info. Look it up. No one but Kennebunk Savings recommends you do this. They say if you don't want to give ssn to 800 number, go into a branch - yea, in a global pandemic. Sorry high risk customers, Kennebunk Savings Bank wants you at risk in every facet of your life. And if you complain? They close your account in retaliation.

Today I had to take an hour trip down to Kennebunk Savings to do some banking. I brought along my 2½ year old son Ryker along for the trip. First off- this bank branch is doing wonderful job to ensure staff and customer safety during COVID-19. Thank you! However, that is not what drew me to write this review. The ladies that were working today went above and beyond for my son. He is autistic with a sensory processing disorder (aka- new things/places/people are tough). After a few minutes in the bank, he was relaxed, laughing, and making friends with all who work there!! Thank you so SO much for your kindness, it means more than they will ever know. I'm adding a picture to this post of their biggest fan! He placed each and every sticker he got onto his shirt, and I wasn't allowed to touch! Hahah.

Customer service at KSB has dropped significantly. No longer is KSB the friendly, everyone-knows-your-name local, community bank. From the front line tellers to the mortgage department, KSB has been a disappointment to this dedicated customer of 20 years. Unfortunately, KSB is loosing their loyal customers.
