My beloved bunny, who was adopted via AWS died this morning due to their slow response to my requests for veterinary help as he was in stasis. They didn’t seem to recognize or care that a rabbit in stasis is an emergency situation and finally granted me an appointment with their vets for a week later. On this day, when he was finally going to be seen, I heard him scream at 4:30 a.m. picked him up and he died in my arms a minute later. Shame on you AWS.

My cat disappeared a week ago and I was left with 6 kittens just under 3 weeks old. I’ve been hand feeding them, but I as concerned I wasn’t doing a good enough job, and now that they’re almost four weeks and can feed well on the syringes, eliminate by themselves, and aren’t totally dependent on external warmth, I thought it would be easier for the shelter since the hardest part was done.
Not one person at this shelter of the 5 that came up and spoke to me even looked at the kittens at my feet.
The first person I spoke to asked me to fill out a form and complained about how I brought them in as they had no space, and I politely said I would just take them home as I didn’t want to overwhelm the facility. He snapped at me and told me to fill out the form and he would have me speak to someone else.
The last person I spoke to told me I shouldn’t have just walked in as they don’t take walk ins, and by the end of her tirade was yelling at me from behind the desk as I walked out the door in tears about how I should have called first as they don’t contract with my town, and my concerns didn’t matter as they have policies they have to follow.
I just wanted someone to at least look at them and tell me if I was doing a good enough job and give me advice on what I should do if they couldn’t take them. They didn’t even ask me about my cat being missing, and now I’m afraid to call and see if she was brought there as a stray. I am appalled and hoped that this was a one off, but everyone I’ve spoken to since has said this place is horrible.

Number 1, they don't judge or discriminate in any way! They are there to care for your animal family. It doesn't matter if you are homeless or a millionaire. They WILL give your pet family the best care they possibly can! They are truly the best team of people I have ever met! My animal family members will ALWAYS go there. I can't even imagine any place better than them or the respect that they give to both you and your animal family!!

We brough our rabbit here to be spayed. Everyone was so nice, directions were clear, and our rabbit is doing great! Spaying can be so unaffordable, and I really appreciate the community pricing that AWS offers. Thank you, AWS! :)

My friends were looking to find a safe space to take care of their dog because they felt that they couldn't give her the life she deserved and this shelter told them their best option was to euthanize her. This dog is precious and beautiful and I dont think it is appropriate for an animal shelter to suggest KILLING a dog because of minor behavioral issues. She hasn't harmed anyone, the most she's done is growl and get nippy. But even so, I don't believe killing an animal for have a fear based reaction is fair. They have feelings and they have a right to life.
