We actually were so impressed with the people and the cleanliness of the hotel, we stayed a few days later in one of the cabins on a return trip through the area. The owners were very professional and friendly. The blueberry muffins were great. Highly recommend.”

Pros: great spot on the river to watch the sunrise; outdoor space is immaculate with lounge chairs and a common fire pit for use; comfortable beds; my room had a cozy fireplace which was unexpectedly nice; staff was really nice.
Cons: no breakfast offered (the only place in town that offered a quick breakfast was McDonald’s or Dunkin); the tv was hard to use.
Nearby activities: Downeast Trail is across the street
Walkability: A short walk to downtown Machias
Food & drinks: Helens is next door and was satisfactory for meals”

“My first impressions were great, but they're not great at replying to emails.
The house is definitely interesting and worth a visit. Our room was fine, but they need to consider guests more when connecting the aircon. We didn't need ours on, but it took up space, making it difficult to get down one side of the bed. I disconnected it, so it was easier. My recommendation would be to stay in all the rooms, to check everything and see if from a guest point of view.
They also need to get better organised for preparing rooms. We admittedly arrived early (3pm for a 4pm checkin), but they hadn't even started on our room - they'd started on another one, when there was only us staying that night!
Having said all that, we enjoyed our visit and would stay again if in the area.”
