Only giving one star because it won't allow me to give less. I made a new patient appointment a year ago. In that time, they have called to reschedule once. I understand, things happen. My new appointment was supposed to be at the end of this month. They emailed, and sent a letter in the mail saying they had to cancel the appointment. I called, to see why and try to reschedule, and they said it was because the person I was supposed to have an appointment with is going on vacation.. again I understand, people go on vacation, but if you're unable to provide new patients with the service you provide, please do not lead them on and waste their time. I pay for health insurance and would like to utilize it. You've wasted my time and money for a year. This is a prime example of how the American healthcare system has failed its citizens. It's unaffordable, and essentially non existent. Even if you are able to finally see a doctor, it's typically very poor quality in comparison. This country is an embarrassment.

Quick Care: At the intake with nurse i was asked if i had tested for covid. I said no and that my only symptom was a soar throat. I could tell that answer didn't go over well. Next, A female doc came in the examroom with her arms folded across her chest and an attitude. Didnt even introducedherself. Overall, shecwas VERY rude! She said my ears and throat were clear. Even though I explained that it felt like I had razor blades in both. She sent me on my way. 2 weeks later I'm in agony! I'm getting tested for strep!

My PCP is great, but the front end is severely lacking. Scheduling is terrible, communication even worse, when they say they'll call you back they rarely ever do, and refills are constantly sent to the wrong places even after confirming where they should be going. I've been a patient here for almost 10 years and each visit is worse and worse. Can gladly go into full details with someone that actually cares. Only reason I've stayed is because of my PCP.

Incompetency at its finest! Office help, is no help. Called had to leave a message , was told the doctor or assistant would call back, no call, when I called back I was read a response…. It had Nothing to do with my message, as if the doctor didn’t know who or what they are talking about. Not to mention that in the past when I bought my handicap daughter in , I was asked if my son was there to give permission???? I am legal guardian and poa, never has been my son?? When I questioned them they said they would look into it, that was over a year ago, and they have no idea where they got that information??? Also when I called back, I was told that her doctor was on vacation and another doctor had responded. I was not told her doctor was on vacation!

I needed my appointment, badly. I came 15 minutes early as asked. I waited in the lobby until 425 for a 4p appointment. I waited in the room for the doctor until 455 and they still did not come in. No one gave me a reason. No one apologized. I had to walk out and leave because I am a mom with a job, who took time to be seen at a place that could not have cared less.

It is rare that I write a review, and even more rare that I write a favorable one about a doctor. NLPC in Gorham had no openings for my yearly checkup with my PC for at least 6 months, but they squeezed me in for a small issue I was having. I was seen by Dr Horne who was extremely helpful and very generous with her time. Her questions and care were comprehensive and her manner was very caring and genuine. I was extremely impressed and felt that I received excellent care. Many thanks to Dr Horne.

Pay up front they tend to charge you whatever they feel like charging. They dont bill your insurance and charge you the FULL BILL. Its a fight to try to get the bills paid with insurance here. Dealing with the call center down south that doesnt care if you have to feed your family or not. Your just a number here. They make you feel like cattle. I need a referral and this place just takes their sweet time with that.Update: Years later it has only gotten worse here. They never answer the phone and you are forced to go online to deal with everything on your own. I really miss the days of a REAL family doctors office. This place still is and continues to be a horror show.

I just wanted to share my experience regarding Northern Light in Gorham yesterday. I took my 13 year old son to Northern Light suggested by his doctor because he was having severe stomach pain. He ended up passing out in the parking lot. Instead of seeing him right away they just put him in a wheelchair and stuck him in the waiting area. No urgency at all! Just wait your turn like everyone else. Ended up at Maine Med anyways but I was really surprised he wasn't seen right away especially for passing out.

Dr. Horne is a great PCP. When I arrived I did not have to wait to be seen. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Dr. Horne really took her time and spoke to me about any questions or concerns I had for her.

Impossible to deal with. The doctors themselves are great but the company, and it’s lack of employees and organization forces its patients to wait weeks for answers. I’ve been fighting abdominal pain for 3 months now with multiple er visits and it’s like pulling teeth to get in to see my pcp any sooner than a month. Asked for more meds in the meantime and they tell me I have to see my pcp to discuss it which is exactly the problem…. Who has a health issue that can wait three weeks? No one. Make your patients a priorityUpdate: my appointment finally comes around and they call me when I leave to tell me my doctor didn’t come in today and made me book another month in a half out. The audacity of these people is baffling! This place is the absolute worst, can’t get any help, they treat you like your less than dirt. My dog gets better medical attention by far.

By far the most unorganized place I have ever been to. The PCP here can't even do a culture swab correctly as she was in too much of a hurry to even be bothered. The lack of care that I have recieved at this facility is disgusting. Brandy McKenney is extremely careless and blames her care team if anything goes wrong. This facility needs to be reviewed by management before they end up killing a patient!

I have been a patient at Mercy/Northern Light for abut 12 years. My first PCP was a fabulous doctor who was genuinely interested in my care. She would call me at home to review my latest labs and help strategize ways to improve. My problem has been, for many years, wildly fluctuating ALT & AST levels, the reason for which has never been diagnosed despite biopsies, tests and consults with specialists who teach at Harvard. Unfortunately, the PCP moved from the area. As did her replacement. Left with a nurse practitioner who was there to collect a paycheck. No follow through on anything. So when we moved south of Portland, I immediately set up an appointment with a well reviewed doctor at the Gorham practice. I called in May and couldn’t get an initial visit until October but figured that was only a month out from my scheduled appointment with the NP so took the appointment and had them cancel my appointment with the NP. Less than 24 hours before my appointment with the new PCP, I got a call from the office saying they needed to reschedule. New PCP is now at South Portland but I can call there and reschedule, upon doing so, I was told I could not get an appointment until July or August of 2023. Totally unacceptable. Gorham could not get me an appointment any earlier . Northern Light does not card about your health. There have been a few great specialists along the way but I’m done with Mercy Northern Light and would not recommend them.Update: It is now the end of January. No one from Northern Light ever contacted me. After several months on a waiting list, I have been accepted at another practice. So far they seem wonderful.
