Pet Care

PetMedic Urgent Care Vet Clinic
200 Lower Main St A-275, FreeportWe can't speak highly enough of this practice. Late yesterday afternoon our dog had a bad wound on his leg and the regular vet couldn't see him. I called the Urgent Care clinic at 5:05 and they were able to see him at 5:30. My husband took him, while I stayed home. The tech and doctor both called me to get more information and explain what was going on. They sedated our dog and cleaned his wound. They had thought they were going to have to do a scan and send out tissue for testing, but when they got a closer look decided that those items weren't necessary. We will take him back next week to have the wound rebandaged. It's too bad this is just an urgent care clinic, because we would take both our dogs there regularly if we could. They are compassionate and competent.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

Maine Beer Company
525 US-1, FreeportVisited on a trip to New England area and found the taproom to be cool and unique! There's a (I assume model) of a whale skeleton hanging from the ceiling and tree fountain right in the middle of the taproom! I tried their beer called 'Lunch' and was pleasantly surprised how easy drinking it was. I found it on many menus around the area as well. They also had their values and contributions to wildlife and such posted around the building which was an awesome thing to see!

Tuscan Brick Oven Bistro
140 Main St, FreeportA local shop owner recommended we stop here while we were visiting. What a great recommendation! The inside was beautiful and comfortable. The hostess and our waitress were both so kind and accommodating. The food was delicious. We both got pasta dishes. The bolognese was delicious, perfect amount of ricotta and the braised beef was to die for. My friend ordered an amaretto sour and she said it was the best she has had in a long time. Definitely would recommend!

Wicked Whoopies
100 Main St, FreeportI stopped in on Sept. 14 about an hour before it closed and boy am I glad I made it! I haven't had a whoopie pie in probably about 20 years and when I found this place online I knew I needed to check it out while in Freeport. I got a bunch of different varieties along with multiple traditional/original whoopies and OMG they were wonderful!!! I highly recommend going there!

Linda Bean’s Maine Kitchen & Topside Tavern
88 Main St, FreeportCame here for dinner in group of 4. Our focus is on lobster dishes as we are in Maine. The lobster bisque is good; for main we had lazy lobster dish, it’s also pretty well cooked and presented. The let down is on the desert, we had pumpkin pie to share, as it’s October 31; for a small piece of serving we can’t finish it.
All in all, this is a nice place for meal for a taste of Maine lobster plated in good presentation.
