This is a nice store to pop into and look around in Freeport, ME. They have a wide variety of items: t shirts, decorative items, old licence plates, greeting cards, table and kitchen ware, ME maple syrup and jellies and more. The store is visually appealing and well organized and is not as touristy as some other places. Prices pretty comparable. It is worth a stop in.

SUPER helpful staff, especially Ella! I was trying to replace my niece's fave souvenir from last summer's vacation that she had outgrown. Ella sent me texts of all the best tees for little ones and shipped my selection right out in time to save a very special four year old's birthday.Thank you Mangy Moose!

Great store full of eclectic and fun items. If you go read the book selection titles, they are humorous! I can't say enough about our cashier (user 56), she was engaging and conversational and made you feel appreciated for coming in!!

Dec. 19, 2021 - If the Christmas elves go on “ STRIKE” . . . this is the place for cool gifts for all ages! This is my favorite gift store in Freeport! Located on Main Street across from L L Bean store, easy to find with loads of parking out back of the store and 1 block down the hill!After talking with the sales lady . . . Back in 1967 when the owner was in her late teens or early 20’s she worked at the original Mangy Moose Saloon/Restaurant/Liquor Store/Gift Shop in Jackson Hole Wyoming! Then relocating to Maine, the woman negotiated a deal to open her own “ Mangy Moose” gift shop in Freeport Maine around the mid 1990’s!This Mangy Moose has a wide variety of gifts ! Kitchen cutting boards in the shape of a moose, to Christmas Moose pj’s ! I like the fun books for our grandnephews & grandnieces entering their TEEN years? Sure we come off as Old & Crazy which means my wife & I are memorable! ( photos ?) The Birthday & Anniversary cards are a hoot! Also the t-shirts with funny captions & photos are a HOOT!Hey MOOSE Fun Facts!*Male moose is called a BULL*Female moose is called a COW*Baby moose are called CALVES*Moose are in the DEER family*Moose eat grass, branches, etc. Herbivores*Wolves & Bears prey on Moose*Moose hear & smell very well*Bulls shed their antlers each winter*Cows (females) often have 1 or 2 calves*Calves depend on their mother’s milk*Bull moose can weigh up to 1,600 lbs*Wild moose can live up to 20 years*Alaska has largest Moose population in US*Moose mating season is Sept. & October

Really groovy and eclectic assortment of gifts and collectibles. Lots of fun and comical items at prices to fit any budget. Overall, this shop is possibly the best of its kind in town.
