After being a guest at the Inn for 22 years (several times a year), it is with great sadness that I post this review. The Gray Family sold the Inn in 2023; now, what used to be an experience of visiting our "home away from home" is now just like visiting a motel by the side of the road. Gone are the special touches that made this place so memorable. My daughter and I arrived on a Saturday night at the end of June, and she found parking no problem at all. (Hint--this is due to lack of guests staying at the Inn.) For the 10 nights we were there, the parking lot was never full or even close to it. The new owners have definitely changed whatever they are washing the towels in because my sensitive skin broke out in a rash. Carpeting in our room and throughout the Inn needed a good cleaning and was very worn looking. Our carpet in our room had many stains that could have been removed with a good cleaning. The mattresses appeared to be new, but did not offer a good night's sleep at all. We requested that housekeeping change our towels every day and that our trash be picked up daily. About mid way through our stay, we went almost 3 days until housekeeping showed up. The Tavern has changed completely. You can no longer get a steamed lobster nor can you get a pizza. (They do have an open brick oven!!) Previously in the Tavern, the food was true Maine cuisine and now they have tried to "make it fancy" and it's not what you would expect in a Tavern! The majority of the employees that we had become such good friends with over the years are no longer there. (One exception being Josh, who assisted us with checkout; he is a pleasant reminder of how the Inn used to be.) The new owners need to change the name of this place because it is a "has been" and will never be the same again. We will not be returning but we will take all of our good memories with us. We have found another place to enjoy our time in Maine and we will stay in touch with all of our friends that we have made along the way.

I don't know how this place has gotten the ratings it has. It was nothing like it appeared online in the pictures. When we walked in my heart sank. It was so run down it felt like we were staying in an old neglected economy motel. Battered furniture everywhere and old dirty carpet, walls and doors. Even the elevator was beat up and horrible. No coffee in the room. Luckily we only stayed one night. Couldn't wait to get out of there.

Since the inn was sold, this inn has gone downhill. Gone is the breakfast buffet and the old menu in the tavern. Sevive at dinner was slow and the lobster roll had no claw meat. Twice I asked for someone to light the fire pit but no one came. I’ll rethink coming here again.
Walkability: Nice

Pretty nice place overall. We had a conference there and the food served was pretty good. Sliders, ice cream bar, lobster roll ( I dont like lobster myuself but others enjoyed it) Then after, we retired to the bar and the bar tender stayed late , the only complaint was that it wasn't locally owned anymore and they dont serve pizza anymore, despite having a big brick oven for it!

Went there for a bridal shower. A little confusing to figure out where to park, but that was minor. The food for the shower was superb and the waitresses were very attentive to all of us ladies. We did not stay at the hotel.

I absolutely love the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport, Maine. It was my first trip to Maine and we chose to have our wedding there. The Inn made all of our planning so simple and easy! Our stay there was wonderful! The staff at the Harraseeket were so helpful and nice. The food at our event and at the Tavern were wonderful. The flowers at our event were beyond our expectations! We are so happy that we chose the Harraseeket!

Room was clean but I had a room with a slanted ceiling I had to walk bent over to get around my bed and very small refrigerator, bathroom was well equipped with and rails for the very high tub, but had no hand rail near the stool that was very low hard to get off of you have some handicap issues, all in all I enjoyed my stay everyone was very friendly and helpful I would recommend this place just make sure you get the room you need for your care. Ty
Rooms: Already addressed this subject
Food & drinks: Food was fantastic and the staff was outstanding in our meeting and in the restaurant on site totally recommend you try them out.

Quaint inn with comfortable rooms. Staff was very friendly and helpful despite being very busy. They were a true highlight. However, when I called after we checked out to get a charge clarified, the person who answered the phone was incredibly rude. That took the shine off this stay and knocks a star off the service.
Walkability: Within walking distance of Freeport's stores.

We stayed here while visiting the Freeport area. The Inn is very well maintained. The common areas are welcoming - decorated with fresh flowers and seasonal decorations. The high tea in the drawing room is a nice bonus. The rooms are comfortable and clean. But what really makes this Inn are the employees- they are all very polite and helpful. A big shout out to James who ran the movie night and Michael the chef at breakfast. One thing is for sure, we will be back
Rooms: The rooms have plenty of space with additional chairs for sitting and watching TV
Walkability: The outlets are just a minutes walk from the Inn
Food & drinks: The on site tavern was a great place to have breakfast and or dinner

We have been going here for over twenty years and felt like family. The Greys were exceptional inn keepers and very community oriented and committed to the environment. In June of 2023 the Inn was sold to Giri Hotels The rates have gone way up and the services have gone down. Breakfast is no longer included and the afternoon tea is dismal. Also a $25 per day resort fee is added. No housekeeping service either. The commitment to locally sourced food is gone. The breakfast was buffet style. The food was put out in bowls and cold. The meal in the Tavern was overpriced. No more homemade desserts and pastries. Apparently the pastry chef was let go.Many of the longterm staff have left. In the past the Easter weekend would be bustling with guests. We overheard staff members saying that leftover food from the Easter buffet was being thrown in the garbage. I asked a chef who was cutting out circles from slices of bread what he did with the leftover bread and he said garbage. With so many people suffering with food insecurity this breaks my heart. Sadly we won't be returning. Before writing this review I reached out directly to the Giri Management Group and didn't get a response. Obviously they are in it for money and do not care what guests think. The lack of guests during a usually busy holiday weekend tells the story.

Back in the early 2000s this place was GRAND! Warm, rustic New England feel. Great location - walking distance from all the shops & LLBean. Previously had 2 restaurants inside the inn - The Maine Dining room (which became the Maine Harvest restaurant) & The Broad Arrow Tavern. One of the greatest things about this inn was the local sourcing of food. The Maine Dining room was spectacular. Recently visiting for our anniversary, the tavern was the only open restaurant. As the inn was recently purchased by a corporation and the Maine Harvest was under construction. We learned the Broad Arrow Tavern will be no more once the construction is done. I understand things change and unfortunately this place will never be the same as when Mrs. Grey owned it. The rooms could certainly use some updating. We decided to not use our 2 person jet tub due to the color of the water when we turned on the jets. We are now charged a $25 “facilities” fee upon check out (I don’t recall paying this before, but I could be wrong). Also, breakfast is not free anymore with the room (and the spread has decreased). Also, tea time was 20 mins late and also is not the same. With all this being said… I would go back again. This place holds dear memories for us.

We called to be sure the pool would be operational for our anniversary. We just found out it's not. We weren't told at check in either because we would have canceled immediately. Place is kinda shady.
