This doctor’s office is unlike any I’ve been to before. They are kind, and helpful, up front about any costs, and Cindy has been extremely helpful on my health journey. She listens and is your teammate. Jenn in the office is sweet and easy to talk to, and so is anyone else who I’ve spoken to. I’ve been going for about a year now and still loving it.

If I could give less stars, I would. I just tried to get an appointment here so I called and the receptionist said I needed to go online to fill out an intake form in order to get an appointment. I filled out everything but at the end it requires you to put in your credit card. I called back and told the receptionist I didn't feel comfortable putting my credit card online without even seeing anyone. I asked if there was any other way to get an appointment and she said, "No" and hung up on me. WTF?! I thought this was a holistic place that was interested in helping people. It was recommended to me by a friend. However, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with trying to get seen by a holistic practitioner. Terrible customer service. Terrible business. Obviously classist. Obviously not interested in helping people.

I'm 38 yrs old and don't have health benefits. I found Lotus from a referral of a friend with the same situation. It works out great for me financially! I've had numerous visits there over the past year. Erica has always been very attentive to getting me in quickly and calling me back when I leave voicemails. I've never ever had someone so gentle and on the ball when doing blood draws. She's absolutely the best! I'm very thankful to have her as well as all other staff supporting me and providing great care with my health. With anything in life you must be patient and know they're a small practice working super hard to attend to everyone's needs. Just breathe and trust them!

My 3 months at Lotus were probably collectively the worst medical experience I have ever had in 38 years. 1) The administrative staff/nurse? Erica was extremely rude to me at every interaction - face to face, phone, and email. She employs zero people skills and a non-caring demeanor. How she maintains a patient-facing position is beyond my understanding. 2) I joined Lotus specifically to see Dr. Krouse, the practice owner who came highly recommended, but was placed on a waitlist to see Dr. Gilman instead. Dr. Gilman did not live up to Dr. Krouse’s reputation - she said many hurtful, inappropriate, awkward, and unacceptable comments to me about my body size and clothing choices during our only two appointments together. She was also negligent, delayed, and non-communicative in getting important health test information/treatment back to me. When I allowed myself to realize that my $60 investment per month was not only NOT providing the health care I expected and deserved but actually causing harm to me, I vulnerably wrote an email to the team detailing my uncomfortable experiences and terminating my membership. In reply to my thoughtful and detailed feedback, I received a boxed response lacking any heart or humanity that failed to acknowledge my concerns and merely confirmed the end of my membership as requested. The owner of the practice did not reach out to me about these serious concerns even when I specifically asked her to, all replies came from Erica the admin (continuing to be as rude as she was in every other interaction). I had the respect and tact to provide Lotus with the feedback of my mistreatment in private but I received no other acknowledgement regarding my concerns other than confirming my membership cancellation - no apology, concern for my well-being, nothing. I expected far more from a private practice that markets itself as a whole health center alternative to the traditional health insurance model. Why wouldn’t a practice owner want to do due diligence on a patient who received improper treatment within her domain of responsibility? Dr. Gilman herself was not permitted to respond to my concerns as well, most likely for legal purposes. A serious complaint being swept under the rug is not a good look, Dr. Krouse, and I urge you to do better for others moving forward. I thought this was patient-focused care but my experience shows how practitioner-centered it actually is. Perhaps Dr. Krouse herself is as good a physician as others have described, thus making this cooperative membership worth it for others, but my experience was cold, insulting, and bereft of concern or care. I was very excited to join Lotus in hopes of elevating my health but unfortunately the experience turned out to be disappointing at best, damaging at worst. I am grateful my association with them is terminated and I will not have to endure any further interactions with any of them. My recommendation is for you to join with caution.

I have heard many many very positive reviews from people who go to Lotus Family Practice. As a benefits consultant, I feel confident by referring Lotus to clients and their employees as the front line for accessing their primary care services. Friendly doctors and staff, long appointment times and easy of access. Can't recommend Lotus highly enough!!!

I'm always extremely thorough with new doctors. When you have chronic health issues you see the good the bad and the ugly of healthcare. Lotus seemed good at first but it turned out to be very ugly. I needed very specific help because my situation is unique and complex. I was very direct about this at the meet and greet. I also directly asked if there was anything else I needed to know about this practice. I always ask this of any new professional I meet. I've learned the hard way to ask this. Though it doesn't help if the person I'm talking to doesn't answer the question. My father also very specifically talked to them about my situation, just to make sure that we knew what to expect. I don't always feel well and he's my backup and has saved me more than once because that's what dad's do. I was shocked when I arrived for my appointment when I was suddenly told that I couldn't maintain my relationship with my PCP who's in network with my insurance. I did my due diligence with all my providers and insurance so I knew exactly what needs to be done as far as making sure things are covered. What Lotus told me was completely the opposite of what all my research had shown. They expected me to take them at their word, without any proof, that I had to sign all my medical care over to them and insurance would cover anything they prescribed. They said it's the law in Maine but never showed me any documentation. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. To top it all off, they charged my credit card the month when I made the appointment and I didn't use any of their services that month. Why charge me before I even have my first appointment? Caveat emptor. If something sounds too good to be true it probably is.

I was amazed and impressed and how professional caring and knowledgeable this practice is. The staff is wonderful and above all, actually care about me as a patient. The doctors listen and do an absolute thorough examination. And then instead of just referring you to someone else or just prescribing you pills they talk with you about a wholistic approach that not only is designed to alleviate your symptoms but also develop a plan to move forward to a permanent solution. It reminds me of my doctor as a kid and i am thankful to be a patient.

I would highly recommend lotus family practice. The staff is knowledgeable, professional, and available for you when you need them. The doctor has always been available and caring. I can't say enough about this place, I feel so fortunate to have this practice right in my neighborhood

Absolutely the best healthcare provider I have ever used. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and made time to take care of my needs, and work around my awkward schedule. Dr. Gilman was so fantastic and caring. I am from out of state and would gladly make the long trip to return to this practice. I travel constantly for work and the program at this facility takes care of me no matter where I am.
