“Love this store! All the brands you find at big box stores (eg, Patagonia, Kuhl) but a nicer selection and a local, community-focused business. More of the everyday wear that you can wear out and about, to the office (if thats still a thing) or hiking/traveling. Staff is super friendly!”
“Lots of synthetic items. Prices are high for the quality. No pocket on tee shirts. Glad I got to see and touch stuff because items were thinner than expected for the money.
Ended up with a couple sales items so worth the trip.”

“My wife and I travel annually to Maine and I always make time to stop in this particular store. Their curated selection of men’s clothing is second to none. The attention to detail and the responsiveness of the staff is always refreshing. As an example from my most recent trip: I found a shirt I loved and one of the staff noticed that it was slightly too long. Without hesitation they offered to alter the garment and even to ship it to me since I lived out of state.
This kind of service will keep me coming back and purchasing items for as long as I visit Portland. My only regret is that they don’t have more stores nationwide - but the fact that there is only one store is likely what makes it that much more special. I can’t wait to come back to David Wood next year.”

“I had an amazing experience with Nancy! She went above and beyond to measure sweaters for me so that I could place an online order. They close at 6pm on Saturdays, and she stayed late to help me! It was worth it, as my Not Monday Jane cashmere sweater arrived today & fit perfectly! Such great customer service is hard to come by these days. Highly recommend this lovely boutique for their selection and service!!”

I really want to make sure she gets credit though because she was amazing.Super friendly and great at her job. I work retail so I totally get being tired but she was super approachable and made me feel like I could ask for anything if I needed help. I probably didn’t seem that friendly that day because I was super tired. Can’t remember the name but she had short black hair, and dark lipstick on. And glassesThere was also another employee there who I think has worked there for a while. Long brown curly hair and pretty tall. I didn’t get their name but they were also super friendly and helpful.Since I work retail I was even able to better learn how to do my job cuz these guys are just so dang good!Idk what they’re making but whatever it is they deserve a raise!”

If you are purchasing something half off, double-check the total as the system does not automatically ring it up and they had to refund me.”

“This is one of my daughters favorite places in the Old Port. We had a 5+ star experience in the spring when shopping, she found the perfect eighth grade dance dress. The woman working (possibly the owner?) Was fabulous!!!At 5:55 she tried to duck in for a quick peruse since they were closing at 6:00. The woman working wouldn't allow her in. Quite surprised that they wouldn't want the business. Could always lock the door at 6:00 and allow existing shoppers to finish up. Small gripe I know but with small businesses, I feel like this courtesy is a must.”
“My wife and I both enjoy shops like this. She likes to shop for belly dance stuff and I enjoy anything that smells like mint and/or cedar/sandalwood. We found this place on a whim while looking around for souvenirs and I'm glad we stopped by.Selection was fantastic. Services was great - the associate was cheerful and pleasant to work with.Location was perfect in Old Port, close to our hotel and coffee shop. “This place has the coolest selection of shirts! All of the shirts are nature themed and the illustrations are really well designed. These shirts really stand out and I think they would make for a great souvenir while visiting Maine. The shirts are made in the US and I believe the company is employee-owned, which is a huge bonus. The shirts are exceptionally well made for the money. There are tons of options in terms of design and sizing. They have t-shirts and long sleeve, I also saw kids sizes and onesies for kids. The salesperson was very sweet and helpful. The store is laid out very well and it's easy to grab the shirt you need in whatever size you're looking for. I had followed them on Instagram for a long time and kept meaning to buy a shirt, but then we happened to be in Portland where the store is located so it was really cool to stop in and shop in person. This is a great place to find a gift for someone or get a souvenir for yourself.”

It had a defect where it started coming unstitched at the point where the hood comes together in the front.We were talking about an exchange, and the guy offered that their tailor could just fix it!In 5 minutes my new favorite sweatshirt was stitched up and ready to go. Unreal service, and so much less wasteful than tossing a perfectly good hoodie.Couldn’t recommend them more highly.”
