I just had the best customer service experience of my life, so much so that I got into my car and am writing this review before driving away. I stopped by for some paint bc I was in town and was hoping to avoid driving to Lowe’s/Home Depot. I walked into this small store to find it surprisingly busy with customers, particularly considering it is Wednesday late morning - and after leaving I understand why. The woman who helped me in the paint section (I wish I had thought to ask her name or look for a name tag but I was honestly so dumbfounded I didn’t think to) was kind, very friendly, and SO knowledgeable about all of the products; equally if not more impressive was that this all came across as totally genuine and I did not feel at all pressured. She ended up helping me get exactly what I wanted, but I also got the impression that if I had walked out with nothing she would have been just as lovely. I’m not usually effusive like this - nor do I frequently write reviews - but I think that when a business is doing this fantastic of a job it deserves to be given public credit.

Never again. This Ace does not have the “helpful hardware folks”. They have one gentleman that works the key counter and hardware that is the grumpiest person I have met working in a retail environment. I have tried to avoid him as much as possible.
The final straw was this week. I tried to have a car key made and they didn’t have the blank. No big deal, they said if I get a blank they can cut it for $5. I ordered the blank from Amazon and went in yesterday to get it cut. The grumpy guy was at the key counter and says “I can’t cut that key.” I mentioned I had been in a few days ago as was told they could cut it if I got a blank. He repeats “ I can’t cut that key”. When I ask why is was told they could, he emphatically repeated that “he can’t cut the key” and I would need to return on Wednesday. I go back today and he is working the counter again. The manager at the paint counter asks what I need. I tell her I need the key cut but know that the guy at the counter can’t do it. She tells me the freight truck just arrived and the guy that can cut it is unloading the truck. Heaven forbid they have more than one person that can cut the key or can unload a truck. She also tells me they only make car keys by appointment only. First time that was mentioned in three attempts.
Also, what hardware store doesn’t open until 9 am. Most others are open by 7 am.
Even though this store is the closest to my home, I will never again step foot inside this store.
Update to owner: Based on the other poor reviews you have received, you know who the problem employees are. I will not be contacting you or this store ever again and a have let my friends know not to visit either.

Picked up a few items the other day, very nice store and helpful staff. Went to return an item today and was not familiar with their policy. The store manager told me they can’t take it if it’s been opened, but if I could get it in its original packaging to go on the shelf they would. I’m assuming they deal with this a lot because she was not very friendly from the start. She proceeded to tell me: “Falmouth people won’t buy it returned.” I got it pretty well packaged up but she told me it was bulging and again “Falmouth people won’t buy that.” Did I not look like Falmouth people? She proceeded to tell me she wasn’t trying to be difficult and I told her she was. She then told me “I’m just a widow doing my job.” I’m sorry, I appreciate your struggles and you working to earn a living, but all I needed was a friendly explanation on the return policy. Unfortunately, my business will go to Home Depot, Lowe’s and Amazon because convenience matters today. With a receipt I am allowed to return just about anything at those stores. I’d love to keep it local, but ACE lost another customer today mainly due to the customer service. Looks pretty well packaged to me, but then again, I’m not Falmouth people.

I used to be a loyal Ace customer and entered the store expecting great service appreciative, accomodating staff.Not yesterday lookong for a waist belt. I wanted to try it for size. If WE OPEN IT FOR YOU; YOU MUST BUY IT!NO THANKYOU, I'LL GO TO WALMART!OTHER STORE STAFF WAS SURPRIZED. I WILL NOT BE BACK!
