I ordered a barrel mug for my husband for Christmas, online. It was defective and leaked from the handle as soon as he put liquid in it. I called and was met with skepticism because “that never happens.” I was offered to mail it back and they’d mail me a replacement but because Sheepscot Is around a half hour away, I decided to make the return in person, which would give me the opportunity to shop the store. The Damariscotta location had a mug I could swap with and they held it for me. My husband, college aged daughter and I drove to the location to pick up the mug. We noted the sign on the door indicating masks were not required so we entered without a mask. We were immediately confronted by the employee, asking us to wear a mask. We all put on masks and I suggested they change the sign if they require masks or want customers to wear masks in the store. I was not offered a refund for my original shipping cost and my thanks for driving an hour or more round trip to correct their mistake was being accosted as I entered the door. I found this very off putting. The mug is lovely. They have beautiful pottery. I will not go back until masks are a thing if the past.

I have been shopping here for years to get unique high quality coastal Maine handmade wedding gifts. (Let someone else get the toaster). This year due to high risk covid danger I shopped over the phone with Susan. She was so kind and helpful. I really feel I have the right pattern to match my nephew and niece-to-be's taste at their upcoming wedding. Thanks again Susan and Sheepscot River Pottery!

I visited the store in October, 2019, as I was passing through. I loved the store and the employees who helped me. I bought a flowered mug, which I have grown to cherish. I look forward to when I am able to visit again.

Always one of my first stops in Maine! Love this store! My home is filled with pottery from about 1970 & upwards, including 20+ cabinet knobs! Always something new! And, the jewelry - so unique! Can you tell I love SRP, both the Edgecomb & Damariscotta stores!

Really nice store filled with all sorts of locally made pottery. They had a great selection of pieces in a variety of price ranges. The more detailed the pattern, the higher the price, which makes sense, given that everything is handmade.
My two year old and I were able to pick out a lovely gift for my in-laws to thank them for inviting us along on a camping trip. The gift was carefully wrapped in tissue paper and placed in a sturdy decorative box, along with care instructions, and the price tag was thoughtfully removed, without my even asking. We were also able to pick out a card with a print of a watercolor painting done by a local artist of the lighthouse we'd just visited the day before.
On our way out, my two year old had to pet all the little stone creatures on the stairs and asked for a photo with them. Unfortunately, that was the only picture I was able to take here, since... Well, I was watching a two year old in a pottery shop. ;) Trust me when I say that you just have to stop in for yourself!
