I called and left a message about a problem with my washer. I had no idea what to ask about, the gentleman I spoke to knew exactly how to guide me. He asked me to explain the issue, and by the end had diagnosed the issue. On top if this, he explained that he could replace it for me, but that it would be easy to replace on my own. He then explained in further detail why he was almost certain of what the washer's problem was, making it even easier for me to understand what the issue was. They have earned my business going forward for any issues I may have. To give such advice for free is so generous. Much appreciated PAR.Service: Washer/dryer repair

It seems this guy is hit or miss and we’re unfortunately in the miss category. Initially was great, but now 2-3 months later he won’t return our calls asking about an ETA for the part he said he ordered. Will change this review if he finally gets back to us, but I’m not holding my breath.

I hired Penobscot Appliance Repair to replace a damaged dishwasher door plate. When Ethan did the job he did not remove the protective plastic coating from the door and mounted the handle on top of the plastic. I could not remove the plastic because the handle was on top of it. I repeatedly left messages asking them to return and remove the handle so we could take the plastic off of it. No one mans the phones and no one returned my messages. I had to resort to disputing the credit card charge with my CC company.Service: Dishwasher repair

He came as the result of a service contract from Best Buy. Ethan was super to deal with. Kept me up to date with all of service and parts needed and dealt with Best Buy for me. If I have any other appliance repair issues that are not covered by extended warranty I will definitely call Ethan.Service: Washer/dryer repair

Don’t waste your time calling these guys. I called for a service repair, he (co owner) asked where to and I said Dexter. He told me “we don’t service Dexter it’s out of our way” I said I’m only 20 minutes away from you. It didn’t matter he refused to do the job.

I've had three interactions with this company, none good. The first was a couple of years ago when Kitchenaid sent one of their repairmen out to service my dishwasher, which wasn't cleaning properly. The repairman said something about the pump was made in Mexico when it should have been the one from China -- or maybe vice versa -- and replaced it. It still didn't clean properly, but it seemed better. To be fair, though, this was likely not Penobscot Appliance Repairs' fault -- I think the dishwasher itself is a lemon. Over the intervening time, it's gone downhill to the point that it now puts dirt on glasses that had only water in them. I complained to Kitchenaid, showing them pictures of the dishes, and they sent the same guy out again. This time, I had to offer to loan him a mask to shame him into wearing one inside; he didn't seem to be too fond of that, but I'm not too fond of getting sick, either. After looking the dishwasher over, he reset the controller, but said it was operating as designed. I might have opined a couple of times that it was a piece of crap, then, if that is how it was designed. He, unprompted by any prior comment on any related subject, told me it was "my president's" fault -- that Obama's water regulations were to blame, and that Obama had never done anything good for me. I suggested in defense that perhaps a clean world was better than clean dishes, but tried to steer the conversation back to the actual problem at hand. The dishwasher ran one load of dishes after he left -- leaving crud on the dishes as usual -- then died. Now it doesn't drain, so it can't run. Kitchenaid arranged another service call, on their dime again, to have the guy come back and fix it. After waiting all morning this morning, he didn't show--turns out he'd refused the repair order, I found out from Kitchenaid later. Guess he didn't like wearing a mask? Afraid he'd get Obama-cooties? I really wouldn't recommend this company. Oh, and I went to Lowes and bought a new Bosch dishwasher to replace my 3 or so year old Kitchenaid. Live and learn!

We had a great experience yesterday when we used Penobscot Appliance Repair. Ethan was very knowledgeable about why our refrigerator had stopped working. He had it back up and running by the end of the day. I would highly recommend this repair company.

I used Penobscot appliance repair in the past and always had above average service satisfaction. So much so I didn't need them for quite some time so when my refrigerator started not freezing I gave them a call. A new person who took over the business showed up and and very quickly diagnosed a faulty defrosting unit which he just happened to have with him and replaced the unit. All goes well for a week then the symptoms started again so I called him back and he manually defrosted the unit and said one of the wires had worked itself loose. Another week goes by and the same problem again. This time he would not return calls nor answer email or messages. Nice. Ended up buying another refrigerator. Do not bother with this company as what it was is no longer.
