Apparently they found dead dogs in bags.

Hardworking volunteers doing their best with a small amount of resources. They are passionate about helping animals and the shelter should be viewed as a non-professional but caring team. Love my cat I adopted from them.

No one answers the phone and I went during the hours posted on Facebook and the place was locked.

Everttime I have found a kitten that I am very interested in no one has ever been able to get inintouched to me about adopting this kitten even after I was informed that I had to adopt 2 at once. Some kind of policy I have never heard of but was willing and still not a soul ever contacted me after I had done 2 of there applicationsWhat kind of joke are you operating down there, throw away what you feel you don't like. One hell of a friend to friend bissness. You lied to me and said it was a fair deal for anyone to adopt a you did not tell me the full truth. Hope you run out of time and money from the community! Oh Yeah, My name is Carolyn R White and I have lived in Orland Maine for 24 years now, Good Day!

I love the Bucksport Animal Shelter. We lost our rescue kitty in March just two days before my birthday and I reached out to them about a cat that was found on the Castine road that was never claimed. He looks so similar to the kitty I lost and it took him awhile to come out of his shell, but he’s truly a member of our family. They are a small shelter that is run by volunteers and they are very busy. They got back to me very quickly, but sometimes they don’t message back for a few days which is completely understandable knowing how few people volunteer to be there. They have families of their own and often other jobs they are required to be at. I highly recommend them and patience goes a long way to find your perfect new family member! Without them we wouldn’t have our Fergus ❤️

I’ve had a horrible experience. This shelter and the town of Bucksport should be ashamed of how they run the shelter. Had a meet and greet on Saturday with a cat that’s been in since July. Was told we will get back to you Sunday. It’s now Tuesday. We’ve had phone calls, emails, and Facebook messages ignored after the first initial visit. They are over crowded and wonder why! Disgusted and disappointed in how this is going/gone, and feel even more for the animals that are stuck in, due to no communication/follow through.
