When I called to make a reservation, I said I wanted a honest answer if people were catching smelt, because last camp we went to,we got skunked. He said yes.. my young son and I came and caught plenty. He checked on us as we fished. Honest owner who cares about his customers. Great camp. Will be back!

Exactly what Smelt Camp is ...a shanty on the river where you jig for smelts . Everything was ready for us when we arrived and the owner’s excellent to work with . The shanty was warm with wood stove already going when we arrived . Plenty of dry firewood in the shanty to keep us warm through fishing. All you need to bring is self , frypan and food . Excellent place to go if you’ve never been ...the owner is very helpful. We fished from 4:30 to midnight ...landed 35 smelts and had a great time . Will recommend to anyone wanting the experience of enjoying another great Maine outdoor activity. There is a CLEAN porta potty close by the office and the area is well lighted . Thank you for providing the opportunity for us to enjoy our firs time at Smelt Camp !!

Had a great experience shacks were clean and well stocked with wood for fireplace. Smelting was great tonight

Steve the owner is a great guy...gets your fire going for you once you show up and does not bust your balls about anything...Easy to cook on the stoves and catch plenty of smelt..Looking foward to this year again..I brought my sons up last year and they had a blast..Im glad Steve dont put up with B.S here like other places...its a low key,quiet place
