Living on MDI, driving an hour to the Blue Hill Co-op is a regular destination as they carry so much more than I can find on island or in Ellsworth. Amazing selection of local produce and vegan goods (dairy, “meats” and tofu products, fermented foods, etc.) Huge bulk section which is the area I find most useful, carrying hard to find items like organic oat groats.
The cafe has improved with regular V items and always a rotation of baked goods and grab and go.
I got the falafel burger on a GF bun (really good bun - I did not specifically ask if it was vegan, though mentioned I was vegan.) Delicious and hefty side of fries.
Lovely outside seating area with umbrellas for shade or rain.
This is a vibrant community spot, and a fun place to run into or meet kind people.

This is one of my absolute favorite places to shop or grab a bite to eat! If I pay for my groceries with EBT, I’m able to get half off my produce! Such an amazing program that allows me to provide healthy, organic food for my children. On top of that, the smoothies from the cafe are delicious! Great to sip on when you’re cruising through the store ?

This place was pretty cute, I went in here looking for a seafood dip or something similar but they didn’t have anything like that. They had pre-made salads, sandwiches, wraps, and meals from the restaurant “Chow Maine.” The cafe was closed when I went in but it looked cute! The local peanut butter looked delicious and they had a big selection of vegan and vegetarian options.

Great store. Great variety of products. Great cafe. Lots of premade foods for take-out. Produces prices are good, but the rest of the store is pretty pricey.

Love it! I am a coop owner and get a discount on things because of that. The prices can be a bit high but that is the nature of a small independent coop. The selection and quality products make it worth it. Great place to grab lunch or coffee. Has a nice cafe and seating area inside and out.

Wow! Used to love this place, now my experience gets worse with every visit. I went the other morning for a breakfast sandwich— I arrived at their cafe around 9:45 knowing they stop serving breakfast at 10:00. I got in line behind the lady in front of me, (the only other person in line,) and patiently waited while she had a five minute conversation with the cashier before ordering her breakfast sandwich. This was no problem, I wasn’t in a rush and I appreciate when staff & customers have good relationships. What got me, is when it was my turn to order at 9:50, I tried to order a singular breakfast sandwich to which I was snootily told breakfast was over & no more sandwiches could be made. As someone who works in the food industry myself, I know it can be irritating when someone orders food right before you close. However, the cafe was not closing, they were merely shifting menus for lunch and according to their hours, I had ten minutes left before that menu shift. Recently, I have found the staff in general to be routinely unpleasant, especially after I tell them I do not have a Co op membership. I live on MDI, I don’t frequent enough to be a member. I really hope things improve, I will be sad to not return.

Great coop! We love the food - breads, cheeses, wines, vegetables. Welcoming staff 100% of the time. Always clean. A gem to have in Blue Hill!

I am regular customer and part co-op owner. I have tried to buy regular blueberry muffins for the past 3 weeks. 2 weeks ago, I visited 6 days in a row and no blueberry muffins.Twice I have spoken to a cafe staff and was told they would pass along a message to the head baker, and still no muffins with sugar. They used to be available 2-3 times a week.Is that it ? I have also left a message in the suggestion box,and never received a reply.Very disappointed with the response- its not a request that is out of the ordinary.AnneThank you for getting back to me. I think the confusion might be me seeing sugar cane crossed off at the top of the ingredient list.I will try again this week and look for maple syrup listed on the ingredients. I had no idea this was an either/or.AnneI finally found a blueberry muffin ( with maple syrup) and it was delicious! Now I know what to look for in the ingredients.Anne

I found plenty of good vegan options, including seitan tacos at the cafe. I had a vegan and GF peach ginger muffin that was delightful!

A nice supermarket with a great coffee bar inside that includes indoor and outdoor seating. We stopped there to get some coffee, it was very good. The coffee bar also has some beers on tap and chilled wines in a cooler. We would go there again.
