Love this store! Very unique and beautiful items. I love seeing the wide variety of artistic specialties displayed in this store. Feels like an art gallery experience while also being a great place to pick up a gift or a treat for yourself!

Markings Gallery in Bath,Maine is a spectacular store filled with a long list of incredible Maine talent.There are three rooms at this venue filled with stunning and eclectic pieces from hand made gold and silver jewelry, stunning hand woven baskets from a local Portland artist formerly from Rwanda, beautiful and lush scarves made of bamboo, silk and wool, whimsical hand made paper cards , contemporary handwoven rugs, magical 'Walker' figure dolls- each with their own message -pottery, lamp glass jewelry; stylish and lush sweaters, multi-fabric, one-of-a- kind jackets, Chakra Totems, magical and fantastic underworld felt figures, shields and vessels. Unusual, colorful and clever tapestry designs that have been turned into stylish pillows and stunning wall art for your home. I could go on but it would be more fun for you to find the surprises here on your own. You will not be disappointed and the staff- who are also featured artists- are helpful and gracious and they encourage visitors to try pieces on. Put Markings on your 'places to see' list. You will not be disappointed.

This surprisingly large store has a wide variety of wonderfully creative, and useable, art. The goods include pottery, jewelry, clothes, wall hangings, etc. I thought things were very pricey though -- well beyond us for this trip, unfortunately, but everything seemed to be made with quality and uniqueness that tempted us to splurge. The one staff member with whom we engaged was friendly and helpful.

If you are traveling to Maine, be sure to stop in Bath to visit Markings Gallery at 50 Front St. I lack adequate words to capture the incredible beauty of so many of the unique and beautiful creations here. Fiber, wood, clay, glass and other materials are represented in the pieces on display and the quality of artistic expression will take your breath away. Well known Maine artists like Hector Jaeger and Wayne Robbins display their work here, and it’s everything to see their work in person.

I have to say that this gallery has a great selection of interesting art. Like many galleries, there were some pieces that I loved (beautiful woven rugs, delicate silver jewelry, and unique artwork in many mediums), and some pieces that I didn't quite care for (weird puppets, painted pottery, and wool hats), but art is subjective! Definitely a place to stop just to take a look or to find a statement piece for your home (if you can afford it!!)
