We often go to Bracketts for convenience. Just this week, I two had very uncomfortable experiences with a young woman who acted as if she really didn't want to be there. In the first, she was just unpleasant and not helpful at checkout. In the second, she had no eye contact with me and when I had completed my purchase, she just looked away and made no effort to bag my groceries. It was awkward! Perhaps she is unhappy with her job?

Just left the market on a Saturday at 11:30 am. I had a grocery cart full of food and there were two registers open with approx 8 customers in each line!! I mean really, how hard is it to hire an extra cashier on a Saturday to check out folks so they can get on with their day??? Very disappointed customer!!

Great local grocery store in downtown Bath. It is smaller than a large supermarket, but much bigger than a typical small local grocery store. Friendly staff and good prices. Great location with plenty of parking and near the river. A great alternative to the chain stores. Shop local.

It's cute here, it reminds me of my old hometown grocery store back in Portsmouth. The pre made store meals are really good if you need something to eat in a pinch. The desserts that they sell there in the bakery section are really good too. They sell stuff like local milk and spices too. Things have really improved here over the years, and I always enjoy coming here. They also got Chester's chicken so that's a plus. Very good parking too. Right smack dab in the middle of downtown, so you can visit some stores, and a short distance from the waterfront park.

It was real fun getting berated by your baggirl Stacy just now. I brought my own bag to carry while shopping, like I do everywhere else. I am sensitive to the chemicals that are used in cleaning anyway and now I am extremely overloaded and sick. I never asked the checkout girl to touch my bag, she is the one that started saying that we aren't allowed to bring bags. I said why I bring it. But your checkout girl kept insisting that I wasn't allowed to do what my body needed me to do. I had to do some rule that Kim decided and your checkout girl decided to tell me that it was just something the government made them do, and when I reminded them that I'm allowed to bring my bag everywhere else I go, your bad girl Stacey stepped up and started to berate me even more. not understanding what was happening, she decided that what she wanted to insist I was doing was more important than what was actually happening. In this day and age, with everyone over stressed, especially me, a little understanding and listening would be great but no your store is an atmosphere of hate and derision, judgment, and ignorance. Fun. I haven't been in Brackets since February because Kim has a reputation of being a drama queen and I see I did right.

So this isn't my go to for all groceries, but it's a great spot to have in town to pick up stuff for dinner quickly. They have a pretty decent beer selection considering its a small store compared to the big box stores, some great local baked goods (when not sold out!), and their meat dept has better prices than Shaws 80% of the time. If needing a quick lunch pickup, they have a decent hot bar and selection of pre packed food too!

Brackets has always been my go-to for meat.I order a lot of specialty meats for catering and some big parties I throw and brackets has always been able to accommodate me with really good quality are we sitting there recently at the last minute and they were still able to accommodate a fairly large order I just love them woke picking up my meat I was looking for some biscuits for strawberry shortcake and they were sold out. the baker told me if you live near here and come back in an hour I'll bake some for you and they'll be ready. that is just freaking amazing. They often have produce from local farms like strawberries and tomatoes and fiddleheads and sometimes cucumbers. They have milk from smiling Hill farm which is a local dairy. apples and cider and season. Local eggs from Bowdoin local beer and everything else you would expect to find in a grocery. They even have whole milk vanilla yogurt which I can't ever find at the other local big grocery store. And hominy.

I love this market! I live in Bath. When I need a few things, this is my go to place! They have a great little bakery/deli and a high quality meat department! It can be a chore to venture out to Shaw's. Bracketts is an amazing alternative! They really have everything you need. You can get in and out of there in a snap! The friendly associates are so very pleasant. It's really a no brainer. I love the convenience, as well as helping out a local business. Bracketts is a purveyor of local "Maine made" items, which I admire. If you're lucky, the accordion player will be playing out front when you enter!!!

Average across the board. When you first walk in, the store has a refreshing local feel however the food says otherwise. Deli premade food (pasta salads, sandwiches, etc) leaves a lot to be desired. The hot bar is a great idea but tastes like everything came out of a bag then microwaved. The premade deli dishes never change and always taste undercooked, the hot bar rotates the same ten items throughout the week. I really wish this store would find a niche and go with it instead of being so out of the box. Some of the food is very expensive in comparison to other local grocery stores. The same block of cheese offered elsewhere will be about a dollar higher here. I usually use this store for the few quick items, never "big grocery shopping" it would break my bank. The positives: the staff is always friendly, the yogurt parfaits they make are wonderful.

I go in here every day when I'm in Bath. The hot food bar is like home cooked meals and the vegetable lasagna is especially delicious. Entrees are changed every day. One day last week I was at the food bar and when I turned around the woman that possibly works behind the scenes was staring at me from about 4 feet away...it was more like glaring (like Dalisha mentioned) she did not say anything...after a few minutes she turned and walked toward the back of the store. A few days before that 2 cashiers were at the check out and one had 2 picture frames. One appeared to have a photo of a team...the other looked like one of those fake photos that are used in new frames when you buy them at the store. Then one cashier said to the other "is this her?" like she compared photos. But it sounded like she was referring to someone in the store but using this "photo" technique to have this secret conversation. Other than that so far, I really like this store. They don't bag beer or hot food usually. So just do it yourself. I'd like to see the owner switch to cardboard type food boxes instead of styrofoam for take out, though.

Not sure what this John person below is talking about but I've had only great experiences at Brackett's. From the yummy bakery goods to the in store made sausage there is a lot to be desired about this store. So some of the cashiers might be chatty...but haven't we all had days like that? I would chose this store over shaws any day-these people go out of their way to get special orders, home deliveries, and will do whatever they can to help out in the community. I commend the Brackett's.

I had a totally different experience at Brackett's. It was bright and cheerful inside and was a small, upscale supermarket. If I lived nearby, I think I'd be a regular at this store. Many of the items I found were a bit more expensive than they are at my local Market Basket supermarket, but not by too much and a small store can only do so much. I liked this store.
