Fantastic customer service and extremely friendly even though I walked in with a massive backpack, lol. If I’m ever back in town I will 100% be back. Though I haven’t utilized it yet, I was also told they sell books online!

Aisles are overflowing with books and boxes on the ground, making it very hard to navigate the store. Very unwelcoming if you are disabled and use mobility equipment - you won't be able to access the majority of the store. Probably a fire code violation too. Even worse than it used to be in the past.

I was fortunate enough to enjoy a Father’s Day story time at the shop today. I love the Briar Patch but I really love how much they do to try to engage the community. My daughter enjoyed the story time and it was great to spend a half hour in the nicest little, locally owned bookstore in Bangor. Thanks Briar Patch for today!

Great locally owned store with a nice selection and friendly staff. We stopped in for Chris Van Dusen books, which they had in spades. We were pleasantly surprised to that they were celebrating Mother’s Day by treating moms to chocolate, a flower and a free book! So sweet. We will be back!

The Briar Patch book store has a multitude of books to choose from and very friendly and helpful staff. My only wish as with most book stores I've been to is that they would carry more homeschool curriculum books for middle and high-school aged kids. However I definitely look forward to visiting this store again in the near future.

I always make a point to visit indie booksellers when I travel, and The Briar Patch did not disappoint! Store was stocked to the brim, and the gentleman behind the counter was warm, friendly, and quick to make recommendations based on books I was looking at. The store is quite tightly packed, and the only demerit is for the fact that many bookshelves were stacked two rows deep, meaning whole rows of books were stocked behind others, meaning you have to move several just to see what's behind them. I can understand this organization method, though, seeing as how space is at a premium here.Overall loved it, and walked out happy!

Favorite independent book store around. Staple of Downtown Bangor, the shop is small, yet impressively well stocked. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and always have great recommendations, no matter what you are looking for. Orders can be placed for whatever they don’t have in stock and the books always arrive in a time frame comparable to the big store chains.

I love finding gems like this! The owner and his daughter were extremely kind & helpful & the variety in this bookstore for all ages is amazing. I have already visited The Briar Patch twice this week! A must see if you are local to Bangor or if you are visiting this little city!!!

We love the Briar Patch! We've shopped there for years for both our kids and our students. The employees are very knowledgeable and always have fantastic recommendations. We especially appreciated their safety precautions during the pandemic, and even now. We're so glad our community has this book store!

As with all places in Bangor - the people are friendly and helpful! In this case, the owner is SUPER and AMAZING! We were in several times the past three days and bought a lot of books. The environment is welcoming and supportive. This store is growing and has a great future. Support it!!!
