Don't always do what they promise

They're just another giant corporate bank that stuck a local name on their sign. Don't fall for the gimmick, you're just a number

Doesn't open tell 9am. Drive thru opens at 8:30 but you have to wait 20 minutes in line. Probably going to switch to Bangor Savings Bank. (opens at 8)

Alright. I absolutely have to give these wonderful people the best review that I can. I was new to Bangor. I was fresh from Phoenix Arizona and Lewiston Maine and just experiencing Bangor for the first time. These people not only made me feel welcome, but also made it their personal job to get me well adjusted and comfortable in my new environment. No other bank has ever been so kind. They truly are a remarkable bunch of people. No other bank can make you feel like family and that's saying alot. These folks show genuine care for their clients and customers. They not only will always have my gratitude, but my respect as well. Quite recently, I was unfortunate enough to stumble upon a malicious website that took my credit card information and made unauthorized transactions to my account. Needless to say I furious and anxiety-ridden to say the least. The people at Camden National Bank calmed my fears, put out the fires of my anxiety and dealt with the situation with the highest amount of professionalism that would put any other bank to shame. I love these people. I am especially very fond of dear Mr Anthony Witham. An esteemed man of high integrity and honorable virtues. His demeanor and warm attitude gave me the impression of a firefighter keeping people safe and bringing comfort to a struggling family. He does his job with fortified willpower, unwavering fortitude, a touch of unmatched brilliance and sheer d*** luck!

I'm a trans woman who has been out for a while and using a name that matches my gender, but I haven't been able to get my name legally changed yet. I came in to set up a savings account and asked the teller, who let me know that I was going to have to talk to someone in the office (all well and good!). The lady in the office was busy so I waited around for a while. The teller addressed me by my legal name (which I don't and haven't used for a long time!) and asked if I wanted tea or water while I waited. It was a nice gesture, but still, she should not have used what was obviously my deadname. When I met with the representative in the office, she made FAR too much small talk, was acting incredibly nervous, and repeatedly addressed me by my deadname. It was a very uncomfortable interaction. I would have really appreciated it if the tellers and representatives here would think before addressing clients by their legal first name when their name obviously doesn't match their gender: -They could have addressed me as 'ma'am' or 'miss'. -They could have just said 'excuse me' and left out the gendered honorifics completely. -They could have asked me discreetly how I preferred to be addressed. Addressing someone by their deadname in public can actually out them as trans to people they don't want to be outed to, and this is something financial institutions need to be aware of.

Positive experience at this bank, however limited access to lower income customers/subprime (bad credit) customers.

I couldn't be happier with this bank. I was a bit underwhelmed when they first bought BOA branches and I was forced to switch but I must say I'm floored with what this bank has done in just a few short years. Great customer service, great account options, and they stay ahead of the curve on technology banking. Highly recommend giving this bank a shot.
