The staff at the desk in the airport were friendly and helpful. However, we had a terrible experience with the roadside assistance department. Our car wouldn’t start, so we called for roadside assistance. We were in the middle of nowhere in Maine, so Uber and Lyft were not options. However, the roadside assistance staff could not understand this. After several hours of going back and forth, we started the process of having an exchange vehicle sent to our location. However, this was never confirmed with tow company, so we waited for the car to be delivered, but it never was. After several follow up calls, we finally had the process started again. We ended up waiting for the exchange vehicle for 11+hrs wasting a full day of our vacation. The roadside assistance staff were unprofessional in some of their comments which made it very difficult to remain calm despite being frustrated and stressed out. We will likely never rent from Budget again because of this experience.

Had an issue with our rental car that we picked up in Boston. Desperate for another rental car we stopped at this location for help. The employee was wonderful. Even though they were out of cars they worked something out.

I have used Budget in the past and will use them again in the future. They have always provided the best service anyone could expect. During our latest trip, our flight was delayed for over seven hours. We were a bit grumpy but when we got to the Budget counter, everything seemed to change for the better. The employees were quite cheerful and exceptionally eager to help. We requested a vehicle change which they accommodated without question. Your employees are exceptional. Thanks for smoothing out the bumps on this trip.

The check in and check out were fine. They helped us with a problem with the rental. The phone customer service was awful! You had to pick a number to finally get a live person and they would transfer you into another phone tree. It seriously took 30-60 minutes for them to tell us to return the car, which was 1.5 hours from where we were trying to vacation or we could call roadside assistance and possibly have to pay extra if they decided it wasn't a mechanical issue.

Budget rental at Bangor Airport was very friendly & professional during the rental pick up. The return customer service was very fast (met us in parking lot) for dropoff. Highly recommend Budget rental at Bangor Airport.

Counter was great to work with. The company however can not keep up with their vehicles! Three days after dropping vehicle, I get notified I am late! After an hour on hold and 3 different representatives; it was a budget mistake! No more for me!

Process of picking up and dropping off the car was very smooth! I did reserve a car ahead of time so that may have helped. Staff were kind and helpful too.

The agent at the desk at the airport was extremely helpful. But my only disappointment is the last two times I have rented the car’s have not been clean and spending over $1000 for 4 1/2 days. I think I should’ve gotten better.

The rental process was easy and the staff super friendly. When we returned the car, I left a hoodie in the backseat. I called when we got home and they were able to find and arrange shipping back to me. The staff was super kind and helpful!

Worst car rental ever. They modified the reservation unilaterally with the drop off moved from Boston downtown to Colorado Spring with no reason. Customer service totally useless, they only waste your time. And also the Amazon gift card received has a value lower than what I’ve been told at the time of the reservation . I have rented several times from different companies in different countries and never had 1 problem. Awful service

Budget did a bit of a bait and switch.Compact or Economy class vehicle provided when an upgraded car was reserved and prepaid. Delta in price was roughly twice the cost paid versus what the car provided should have cost.If they were limited on available vehicles they could have corrected the rate. Seems intentionally fraudulent.

Budget in Bangor is populated by employees with bad attitudes and disinterest in helping customers. Though I had a confirmed reservation for a specific car, they tried to charge me $10 more a day for the one car that was available. They also tried to charge me extra for arriving one hour early. This is the second bad experience I have had with Budget at the Bangor airport.

Reserved a Chevy Traverse or equivalent. Got a For Explorer, Budget May consider it equivalent but it surely is not. It was cramped, we rented b/c we needed a third row and plenty of room for our luggage. The Explorer was limited room in the backend, dirty, windshield wipers barely worked, the road noise was horrible in addition to a strange loud humming for the front end (bad bareing?) there were a few ants in the vehicle as well. Completely unimpressed.

I reserved a Toyota Camry or equivalent because I’m 6’3” and know I have enough head and legroom in that size car. Unfortunately, I was assigned a Kia Sportage, which is a small SUV and certainly a lesser vehicle than what I reserved. Adding to my dissatisfaction were wipers that needed replaced and it was out of alignment, pulling hard right at all speeds. I would have returned it but I was staying more than an hour from the rental facility so just accepted it as-is and mentally noted not to accept a small vehicle in the future.

I have spent a lot of money renting vehicles at the Bangor Airport this past year and Budget has been the worst experience by far. On separate occasions I have rented and pre-paid for a specific class of vehicle for a 28 day duration. Both times, the vehicle class I rented was not available. They always try to downgrade my vehicle class but want me to pay the same price because I pre-paid. They basically punish people for paying ahead of time. This most recent experience, I ended up paying more per day in order to get an appropriate size vehicle for my needs, but shortened my rental period down to one week with the understanding I would be refunded for the overpayment of my pre-pay. After the one week went by, I was still in need of a rental vehicle. I was out of state and called customer service to extend. She said I needed to go to the counter. So I called the Bangor location and spoke to a person at the counter who informed me that I did not need to extend because he took the number from my keychain, looked up my reservation, and stated I was already scheduled to have the vehicle until the following week. I told him I thought I’d lessened my rental period down to a week but perhaps I was confused because at the time I picked up the car was total chaos due to them not having a vehicle for me, haggling over trying to over charge me, etc. He said not to worry, I was good until the following week and did not need to pay anything to extend my rental. Two days go by, and I get a text from Budget saying I failed to return my rental! I immediately call the Bangor location again and was told this time that I was due to have it back 2 days ago (the day I TRIED to extend my rental and was told I didn’t need to). I explained my situation to a lady named Natalie who said she printed my reservation for her manager to review, but I should be all set and the manager would call me back to ease my mind. The same afternoon I get an e-mail from loss recovery accusing me of not returning their vehicle. I tried calling the 800 number on the e-mail that was provided and literally no one ever answers it. I again call Natalie at the Bangor location who tells me her manager was very busy so she got another manager. After waiting on hold for some time, she comes back on to tell me the manager is reviewing the papers but will call me back because I would otherwise be on hold a very long time. Nobody ever called me back but they did however put over EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS worth of pre-authorizations on my credit card, from 6 different transactions of varying amounts. Thankfully my credit card company denied them thinking it was fraud. I ended up taking the car back even though I wasn’t done with it- the guy at the counter could have cared less about my ordeal- printed me a receipt showing they owed me over $160 from my pre-pay but that it was “non refundable” because I pre paid. As I was on my way home- my credit card e-mailed showing Budget tried taking another $250 from my card. I’m currently fighting with them now regarding that. Today I opened a certified letter from Budget, again accusing me of not returning the vehicle. This has been the worst experience of my life and I will never return there. I should have learned my lesson last fall when I rented from them and got charged an extra $150 cleaning fee for excessive dirtiness, knowing the car was spotless upon return. I now take a video of the vehicle before I remove from the lot and upon returning to prove the car was not dirty or damaged.
