The hotel was clean, quiet and the restaurant was good. Service was good as well. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because the bed was extremely uncomfortable. It was an old spring mattress with a major dip in the center. It was painful enough on my back that I went to Walmart and bought a foam topper, which helped a little but not much. Had I not prepaid for the stay I would have found another hotel purely due to the bed.

Ridiculous price for what you get. Mold on the windows, a cold floor, a drafty and cold room with poor heating, no extra tp in the bathroom, sunshine streaming through windows blinds and curtains waking you up early and the door had a window you couldn't block light from in any capacity. The neighbors left their lights on all night. You must go outside and around Robin Hood's bend to get to ANY of the facilities. Oh yes, highly inappropriate electrical cords in the rooms and no outlets on one side of the bed. Everything on one side of the room was on 3 extension cords that they shouldn't be using anymore. Please take the dead flies out of your light fixture. Ew. And seriously, who doesn't line their room curtains?
So much for the cabin at the Senator.
Oh yes, feel free to dust under the bed as the pillows and cords tend to stick to them.... and get a new mattress. I woke up with pain and I've never had that problem with any hotel.
Get the full beat up cabin experience... go back in time fifty years.
Btw the decor in the rest of the building and outside is outstanding.
Do not get rooms through Expedia. Changes cannot be made and they are double the price if you check with the actual hotel.

On a recent trip for a wedding, my wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Senator Inn and Spa! The ladies at the front desk were very thorough and the receptionist at the spa helped us with some directions to a couple of places in town.
Cloud 9's food service manager, Ridge, was an absolute delight! We were in the restaurant having brunch before the wedding and inquiring about some pizza we would need afterwards. Ridge went above and beyond, helping us problem solve because we would be back after the restaurant closed. He is a true professional and his humor meant a lot to our group! The food at Cloud 9 was amazing and nobody in our large group was disappointed in what we ordered. Kudos Chef!!
When we make our way back to Maine, we will definitely be back and hopefully have another good laugh with Ridge and other members of the staff!

A really convenient location, the spa was lovely, and the desk people were really nice!
A lot of the reviews mentioned that the place it "dated," but if you can understand, a lot of the buildings in Maine are the original ones from the late 1800-1900s, then you might appreciate the originally of the decor. I continue by saying, the hotel has a rich history, there is an original old phone booth for example. But when you say things of the nature, "we could have stayed at a place for half the price, and been in a better place." Well yeah, and that sounds like a you problem, has nothing to do with the hotel, maybe you want a newer building but with zero history. Whatever suits your fancy, personally, I really enjoyed the atmosphere, and I would stay here again in the future if the opportunity presented itself ?
Noteworthy details: Spa was really nice, you can take even advantage of the classes they offer there as a hotel guest.

Checked in around 10 pm the girl at the desk was on point and kind. She even put a cot in my room ahead of time for me. Which was huge to me. She lent my kids chargers for their phones which was another awsome! (We had intended to drive through but the Mrs. And I were beat..
Bed was way better then typical hotel beds.
Went down to have breakfast new desk folks all nice.
Sit down and our first server comes over and has scabs on their arms.. I get it hard to find help.. cover up. It was pretty bad. We picked at our food kindly paid our bill and off we went.

We were located in a handicapé room, which has no sense, the toilet was totally old and uncomfortable.
The room was big however without the air conditionate was unable to stay in.
At night was horribly hot and we were annoyed by the sound of the machines who where next to our room...
I would not reccommend or come once again..

The only place I can review is the spa. The pool and hot tub both are amazing and clean. However my wife and I hope to stay at the hotel soon.
